I realize this may not be to every ones liking... "different strokes I suppose".
Took a couple of my kids up to Montana and introduced them to Prairie Dog Shooting.

DaisyCutter, I expected some varied reactions but "getting wood" sure wasn't one I expected. It didnt have that effect on me anyway.

Yes, my daughter ended up shooting a bunch of them, in fact the first one you see get blasted was hers. My son got his fair share also. The video thing was an after thought and we really didnt prepare very good. Besides, who wants to see exploding gofer bits anyway?; although after watching it is strangely fascinating.
The choice of song came about after someone said "wow, that prairie dog had a bad day".
I don't even want to comment on the illegal immigrants comment other than to say prairie dogs are rodents and illegal immigrants are human beings. Big difference, shame on you Norminaz.
Shame on you? A couple of weeks ago some D-Bag posted a joke about drowning Mexicans like rats. Now a reference about shooting them like rats. :(

It's interesting to me the differences in oppinion and comments between the prairie dog post and the New Mexico antelope shot post. One is a private ranch and the hunter exits his vehicle and stalks his prey finally taking it with a long risky shot. It's labled as unethical, giving a bad name to hunters etc. The other is just sport, killing rodents for entertainment, shooting off the hood of the truck etc. To me they both have elements of bad hunting.

Thanks for the concern about my kids, it "takes a village" you know, but please rest easy, they have been fully instructed and can distinguish between prairie dogs and humans in spite of the public education they have been involved with.
As far as the bits and pieces left over; hey, the buzzards got to eat.
Keep watching for those aliens, the truth is out there.

Yo Avery - you trouble makin', no good low life prarie dog shootin' bad guy. Can't believe your are teaching your kids and relatives how to use a rifle correctly - absolutely disgusting. Now they may have the knowledge to protect themselves and actually understand how to exercise some of those 'rights' that are supposedly guaranteed - not to mention some teachins in gun safety. You know that the city folk hunt bargains, cheap gas and easy prey not varmits - varmits are taken care of by animal control or someone else - right? and they do a good job. Haven't seen nary a prairie dog in Mesa the last few years so that must be the right answer. Love your post - it's just that most do not understand that there are actually other places in the world and other ways of live besides their own. They would probably really freak out if the knew about the fate of the stray and neighborhood cats I've trapped in MY backyard. When we going camping?

Good way to say it. I guess I don't understand what the problem is either. We learned to shoot at rats at the gravel pit - population control - but I've never shot at a human and hopefully never will have to.

Dang flipster, I have only had experience raising my five kids. You sure sound like you got it figured out, maybe you could write a book or something and help the world out with you vast knowledge, how many kids have you given birth to? (I assume you are a woman based on your comments -forgive me if I error).
And, oh by the way, my kids would never use MY gun(s) to pick off strays, Nope, wouldn't happen, they would use there own gun. I am very particular who I let use my equipment.
neufam, You better consult with flippie on letting your hubby take your boys out shooting, frankly I must evaluate my entire way of living. I'm not sure introducing kids is worth the risk. :D

It is children who have no experience with guns and are curious that feel the need to find things out on their own since no one has taught them gun safety/respect. Our guns are all locked in a gun safe. I didn't turn into a gunslinger nor did any of my cousins or friends that grew up hunting and shooting.

I grew up the same,hunting and fishing,but I was also taught not to needlessly kill.Food or self defense.I still occasionally kill a paper target,and then take it and the shell casings with me when I leave.
