Well, I just spent the day trading out the motohome for a toyhauler. I just got a 2007 FK2100 weekend warrior with all the bells and whistles. Here is a pic.
CORRECTION... I am working on trading the MH for the hauler...[xx(]

We got rid of the motohome for a couple of reasons, one; we took our family vacation in it this summer, and the wife and kids got sick every time we traveled. And two, anytime we wanted to go somewhere local, we had to rely on someone else for a vehicle. Now I'm just waiting on it to cool down to get it to glamis!

Nice looking trailer.
I can't wait until it cools down Either.
I need to break in my new trailer too!
See you in the dunes!

Nice WW trailer. :D
First off, VERY NICE!!!
I understand the reasoning,
Old for New,
Getting sick and stuff sucks,
Relying on other transportation is a big factor for us too.
But to go from a 36' motorhome with a small slideout to a 21' Trailer[?]
You have your reasons and i'm SURE this was a good move, but giving up all that extra space and the privacy losing that bedroom..........Well you already got 2 kids, so I guess you don't need the privacy anymore [:p]
Congrats on the new hauler, very purty.
I think we are going to just get another smaller toyhauler instead of a Motorhome.
PS--You gonna buy a truck to pull it? Or just use the work Burban? 20 miles to the dunes, you could use any vehicle to tow that trailer.
That thing is very nice looking Darren.
Geez, COME ON DUNE SEASON.....GEEZ!!!

At this point we are going to use the burb to pull it. (free gas:D) If my situation changes at work, then I'll have to trade in the wife's ride, but right now, we're gonna save the dough.
I was thinking about the size thing too, but, in the long run, this is the best move. The layout on this one is very open, enough for 5 full quads, and it has a total of 4 queen beds, with additional floor space, onboard fuel station, outside shower, and pressure washer. Nice radio/cd with outside speakers. I'm happy with it, and think I can get used to the smaller scale. No looking back! Plus I am saving near 100 bucks a month on payment:D

Your trailer looks like an UltraLite, if that is the case then I would recommend reversing the axles. The bottom of the spring u-bolts aren't very far off of the ground. ;)

Ya, its the light one. I guess they call it a superlite on the 07 models. Thanks for the suggestion. That was one of the first things I was looking at. I just didnt get underneath it to see what was all involved to do it. Did you do your Griz? I did it to my last trailer, and I liked the difference it made.

Well, you cant be too jealous of where I live at the moment. At least you guys have SOME riding areas... Mine are kind of limited. I took a drive out to the dunes the other day during the day, and it was 121 on my mirror therm. Im gonna take a seperate therm. out there next time to see what the surface temp. is...

That IS the perfect floor plan. Our old Toyhauler didn't have ANY room in the bathroom. Your's looks very open.
5 full size quads??? 1 straight in and 4 sideways??? Either way, your 2 fulls and 2 mini's will fit nicely.
Fuel station........That's nice.
Saving almost a hundy a month don't hurt either!!!:D
4 Queen beds??? Where? I only see 1 queen in the back. The benches pull down to make 2 doubles. That's only 3 beds, air matress in the rear? Which isn't recommended by the manaufacturers just incase something breaks and SQUISHAGE!!! HAHAHA
Should work out nicely.
Good catch Chris on the SuperLite, that'll save some decent weight when pulling on longer trips.
Sweet trailer Darren. I like it. And I agree with Norm, you suck! hahaha[:p]

There are actually 2, what they call ultra queen, beds in the back. They are underneath eachother like bunk beds. They called the benches "queens", but you are right, they arent that big. But I will admit that they are bigger then a double. I may suck, but I doont blow! :D

OK Darren,
I will volunteer my services to you for an early dune trip. I will be willing to stop by and pick you, your wife and the new toyhauler up and haul you guys to the dunes with my new truck.
Nice new addition. Ya, I'm a giver...

Mine is not a SuperLite so I have not flipped them but I was planning on buying one and would have reversed the axles.

Duneflyer -- Nice Toyhauler -- I also have the superlite FK21 and it works great for the wife and a couple of kids. As Griz said, I would look into flipping the axles the superlites sit real low to the ground. You may be fine, but I use mine for hunting and did not want to rip my plumbing off the bottom. We have not had any issues with ours, with the exception of some initial generator problems. Mine just holds my Prowler and Predator with no room to spare.

Who flipped your axles, or did you do it yourself? What was involved if you did DIY? Thanks

The dealer should be able to do it. Costs around $250.

LOL I never thought about the dealer. I might ask them about it.
Right now, they are trying to sell me a reese stabilizer hitch for $450 installed, but that doesnt come with the antisway. THey say I dont need it, but I tend to disagree. I told them I can get the full kit for 400, including antisway, but he didnt seem to impressed.

BTW, anyone got any stealer deals on a stabilizer hitch set with antisway? I have heard mention RV Wholsalers before.

GRRR... I was talking up this RV place, but have now changed my mind. STAY AWAY FROM RV WORLD in Yuma!!!:( We signed an intent letter on Saturday, with term, percentage, payments...everything layed out. Well now they have come back today and said that they need to raise the interest rate to be able to meet the term we wanted. Bunch of @$$!*#&$! I told them where to stick it, and they need to work harder, so anyway, they are "going to try" to do WHAT THEY SAID THEY WOULD DO. Whew... I feel better now. Well not really, but anyway... we will see what happens. I am sure I can find another new warrior around.

If your deal fall thru you might want to check out Giant RV in California, I think they have numerous dealers with possibly one in the San Diego area, or the dealer in Tucson.

I have heard of them, giving pretty good deals. Since no one is left in Yuma, That will be my next direction, if this doesnt end up happening. Thanks for the tip Griz. I didnt know they had one in tucson

There is a guy on Glamisdunes.com who goes by the name of Headinjury who has worked some really good deals for people on that board.
We had the axles flipped at Cliff's Welding in Mesa. Cost was about 250 bucks. I also had them weld up a second spare tire rack on the other side of the one that it comes with (included in the 250 bucks). They did a great job and we have had no issues.
Since you have not finalized the deal, I would make the dealer do it for free. If they say no tell them where to stick their trailer and go elsewhere. We got ours at Jim Bogard RV (I think they are Travelon now). This time of year is their slow season and they seemed very ready to deal.

Forgot -- I do recommend the anti-sway setup for towing. I was told the same thing by the dealer and after a few trips, I put one on. For your short trips to the dunes it would probably be fine.

I have a call into Giant RV, so we will see how bad they want me to make a 3 1/2 hour drive. According to them, a sams club member gets a 12% discount.:D I knew that membership would come in handy for something besides food![8D] I think I am going to pull the plug on the local deal. The more I think about it the more ticked I get. Its just nice not to have to drive....
Just ride it- I'll check on the head injury dude, thanks for the tip! I agree on the antisway deal. They really dont think I need it. So when I said, thats fine, and when I come back complaining of sway are you going to upgrade the hitch for free? They didnt like that agreement.[}:)]

A good price would be 25% under MSRP out the door. :) They will deliver it to your house or to the state line. You can't haul it back yourself without paying California taxes on it. This is what I did. :) I then paid Arizona taxes when I went to register it at MVD.
I to would highly suggest Giant RV. I have bought my last two trailers from them, and they are great to work with. I cannot comment on their finance department, because I always had my own financing. Credit unions are the best! :D
Arizona Griz

I actually got better financing thru Giant RV (Bank of America) than I could get from my credit union. [:0]

Me too as far as financeing goes... it seems that B of A is going to do me better then my credit union.
