to toilet chemicals.....anyone??????

Steve, me, the kids, friends and family all went to Utah for about 8 days. The whole time Steve and I coughed and gasped for air while we were in the motor home. It was horrible, I can't explain the feeling of needing oxygen in your lungs. We didn't discover until we got home that we both had a reaction to the Formaldehyde in the toilet chemicals. I used Campa-Chem, strong stuff....never again. Also next time I'll leave the bathroom vent open and the door shut. It was vary scary not being able to breath.

What brand do you all use?

Has anyone else experienced this in your RV's?

I know people who had reactions and told us to use the formaldehyde-free chemicals. I don't use any particular brand they all seem to work about the same so I buy what happens to be on sale.

Glad to hear neither of you had a really bad reaction ;)

You should try to get the MSD sheet on the product, so you know all the chemicals in their. One or both of you may also be becoming more sensative to formaldehyde as a "cummulative allergen" since lots of stuff contains formaldehyde. If so, each time the reation will get worse.

I was there to witness it, and got a bit worried about them, I use the Thetford brand which also contains that chemical. I stuck to a a cup or so for a tankful and we were fine. Next time, I will use the stuff free of that nasty chemical, because it clearly states what it causes.

Camping world has these dry drop in packs. There form. free and safe for your septic as well and they have a very nice sent very mild. I can't remember the name off hand but I'll get it later. It comes in a resealable bag.
