View Full Version : A question for the duners...
Going to Glamis next month & had a question for the dune people. This parking pass i've been reading about, $25 for the week, $90 for the season, where can I get one of these? I've been searching the dune websites & all they tell me is I have to have one, but not where to get one. I'm familiar with the registration, whip antenna, etc... but clueless about where to obtain the pass. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Don't want grief from Mr. Ranger.
Much thanks,
Jerry

If your going to buy a Season Pass you can do it through Central Parking (1-877-415-1381) over the phone and they will send the pass to you through the mail.
If you are going to buy a Week Pass and alost all of the dune entry points are Pay stations located at the entances. If you know where your going to be more specifically I can give you better details.

Hi Jwalk,
Thanks. Yes, we are heading over there the weekend before Thanksgiving (Nov. 21st, 22nd & 23rd). Leaving early that Friday & coming home late Sunday. You say we can get a pass at the entrances?

Jerry, from what I have been told there is a pay booth at each of the major entrances. Make sure you have a copy of your registration for your quad with you or you could and will be cited if you don't.

Thanks Griz. I've got one on the bike at all times. Good to hear from you. Did you ever get that Javelina?

Jerry, I can be more specific if you tell me which area you are going to. (Buttercup, Ogilby, Gordens, Glamis) As to where those pay stations are.:D:D[:p]

Jack, we are going to camp north and west of the cell tower just north of I-8 off of the Ogilby Camp road. Where is the pay station located from here?

Griz,
As you drive in on the dirt road, Just before you get to the cell tower there is a fork in the road. Stay to the right of that fork like you where going to drive to the cell tower. a couple of hundred yards after the fork is the pay station on the left hand side of the road. You can't miss it.:)

We always buy our season pass at the pay station at Ogilby (they DO take credit cards by the way). The first time you just display the receipt on the dash of your vehicle. There is info on the receipt as to where to send the receipt to get the actual season pass. They turn them around pretty quickly...so unless you go on back to back weekends that should work for you.

IF YOU PAY FOR A SEASON PASS AT ONE OF THE PAY STATIONS YOU CAN ALSO TAKE YOUR RECIEPT TO THE RANGERS STATION AND THEY WILL HAVE THE PASS. SOMETIMES THE RANGERS WILL HAVE THE PASSES WITH THEM IN THEIR TRUCKS AT THE SOUTH DUNES.

This pay station was inactive last weekend - entire processing unit had been removed from the frame probably for service. I imagine it will be back in business for the Halloween weekend.

The Ogilby pay station was broken into while we were there a couple of weeks ago (coincidence only...I swear). When the ranger came by to check passes, he was asking if we had heard anything during the early morning hours. We told him that other than the REALLY RUDE people that insisted on riding until 3:00AM all around our camp...we didn't hear anything.
Since I'm on the subject...let me vent a bit. When I go to the dunes...I fully well reallize that it is about ONE thing...riding. I expect a lot of noise and a lot of fun. What I don't understand, however, is why some people insist on racing their quads all around camp at 2:00AM when there are miles of dunes out there and plenty of late night party places (Test Hill, etc.) to ride at. I understand people going in and out of camp to ride and I don't have a problem with that...but screaming around other people's camp at full throttle at 2:00AM isn't cool...at least to me.

JandC, sounds like you're camping along the "Wash Road". There's a pay station at Wash 2. If you get a season pass, just take the reciept to the Ranger Station on Gecko Road to exchange it for a mirror hanger (which are real fancy this year...I guess that's what we get for the $60 increase). Last weekend there were attendants at each pay station to help and make sure everything works.

Much thanks duneDS650. If I remember correctly, aren't there train tracks there? It's been 14 years since I was last at Glamis.
