Alright - I'll start another thread...

Hey guys, let's get a huge group together for this year's GP at Speedworld. A bunch of us did this last year and it was a blast! Ben, you missed it last year and promised to come this year.

Bag - you want to team this one again this year?

I might wear the helmetcam at this one if I order it in time.

The team race is the funnest part of it - you pass a hair scrunchy thingy from person to person when you come in. You do one mx/desert loop and pass on to your partner. The GP is like an hour long and flies by - a great time to prerace the course. Bag is a great gate drop starter and took close to holeshot last year with a full line-up! He "bagged" it!

Anyway, what do you all think? It is Sunday- December 14 - Speedworld Grand Prix

WRONG!
I raced it last year and had a great time! I showed up to find Pro desert racer Jeff Hancock in the beginner class. A little harassment got him up to the pro class where he belonged. He took my money! I'm an idiot. Fun day of racing though. I plan to be there. :D

I remember quads there.

Last year, it sprinkled in the morning and had overcast - it was sooooooooooooooo perfect! The cool temps just rock!

I think you sign up when you get there, and entry fees are cheap, I think around 20 bucks a race.:D

Go to the Whiplash page, and you can print off your entry forms. If you have'nt raced with Whiplash before you will have to start in the first time racer class, and does not require a licence. If you race after that there will be a 30 charge for an annual licence. It is recomended that you pre register for each race. It will save you the 20 late fee, and saves Whiplash time. There is usally a two week cut off on pre entries.

Also this race at SpeedWorld is not put on by Whiplash.

I'm in for the quad race. Rapp Dude and I are partners for the team race at 8am also. I can't wait!
RappDude and I we're at Speedworld this last Sunday. I like the new Nat track layout. There were some new surprises on the GP track though. The 150 yard straight away is now a 150 yard whoop section...big whoops to! Just when you get in a rythem, they space them closer together to really throw you. There is also a very small triple/stepup/smack your azz over the bars/jump coming out of the wash crossing. I saw Rapp Dude try to double it.[:0] I think I'll just roll that one.;)
I know Slyder is in. So who else is going? Nick, Don, Stacy? You guys aren't skEEErd are ya?[}:)]

Not this one, I'm still recovering and I need to hang Christmas lights sometime :)

Besides, I've had enough whoops for awhile. I need to order a whoop-proof chain roller. I still haven't gotten what's left of the old one off.

Thanks for the taunt...I mean offer.

Didn't make it to Speedworld! But Alan V. and myself did the team race in Lake Havasu for the WORCS Danny Hamel Memorial Fund. We were the fastest slow guys!:D The track they have there is very good, you run right in the water.[:p]

I had planned on racing the team race with Dbag, and doing an expert race, but the flu got the best of me. Plus my WR was not ready to go.

Dbag (or Dtumbleweed) raced, and did well.

Destry showed up for the Pro race, and spanked um![B)]

I raced this GP and it was awesome!! I raced it with dbag and ODB. Our three man team did well we placed 18 out of 56 teams. If you havent done a gp before you are missing out. I started the team race, and with no practice, riding the track on your first lap is exciting and chalenging. I got a good start and ended up leading this race for a couple miles but had a rider pass me at about 5 miles into the race, then we battled all the way to the finish of our first lap. We had these scrunche wrist bands that we had to give to the next rider and that was intresting. All in all I ended up running 3 laps and odb,Dbag ended up running 2. These were 7 mile laps so you get pretty worked up even after just one lap. The hardest thing for me was no practice, and trying to remember each section of the track. Our team race was a hour and half long. All the individual races where suppose to be 45 min but was raised to 1 hour. I ended up racing the Int/ to Pro class which was the last race of the day. They ended up bumping our class up to 1 hour and half. I knew I was in for a ride when they annouced Desty Abbot was in our gate!!! But I figured I dont have anything to lose I am just out here for fun. When the gate dropped I was in fourth out of 10 riders and doing fairly well. I got about 5 miles into the course and came to a section of the course that had dramaticly changed through out the day, compared to the morning, this section went from being pretty level to being 3-31/2 foot deep woops and soft dirt. Well to make a long story short I lost control and ended up on my head. I went to pick up my yz450 and a rider slammed into my bike. I picked up my bike and took off. I went to use my back brake and I noticed it was gone. Well not really gone but bent down far enough I could harldy reach it. I made 2 more laps whith no rear brake before I could get my crew,ODB and family to notice that I needed a bar to fix my brake lever. We ended up bending it up and my brake seemed to be working but not like it should. It felt soft and weak. On my 7 lap I had to pit for fuel and a drink. I still had 30 minutes to go so off I went. About 2 miles from the checker I hear a bike blazing up behind me, as I check behind me while making a corner I see it, A bright green front fender of Destry abbots bike. I simply moved over alittle to let him buy then tried to ride with him for the last little bit we had left. He was still pulling away from me but it made the end of the race allittle more exciting for me. When I finally got flagged off the track with the checker flag, I was spent. My hands bleeding and my leg tired from trying to push on my rear brake as hard as possible, I was ready for a break. I inspected my rear brake after the race and when the gentlman hit my bike earlier in the race he had destroyed my master cylinder. I then knew why my brakes did not feel right!!!!! All in all I had allot of fun and would love to race another Gp. As for Dezrcr you really missed out. But thanks, Kevin was a good person to have on our team and helped us out.

Oh yes, another victim of the Speedworld sand wash whoops. They got me exactly the same way in the WORCS race there a couple years ago, and I also got plowed by another bike the same way. Sounds like you had fun and thats what counts. I really wanted to do this one, but you can't race them all.

BTW, the best way to exchange those scrunchy bands is to shake hands with your team mate and just pull the band across to the other hand. It's fast and a lot easier.
