View Full Version : Ricky Carmicheal 8 for 8

I just pulled this out of Cycle news.com
This guy is unstopable,
"In case you missed our Virtual Grandstand coverage of today's AMA Chevy Trucks National MX (and you weren't there in person), be informed that Ricky Carmichael's perfect 2002 outdoor record is still intact. The Team Honda rider took both 250cc moto-wins today at the historic Unadilla circuit in New Berlin, New York, making it a record 16 moto-wins in 16 tries. Incredible."
And on a Honda, go figure. That guy probably could even win on a Polaris!

You know what is really crazy is how smoooooooooooooooooth R.C. is has been lately. He has always been faaaaast, but a little wild and outa' control at times. He is unstoppable right now.
You know what I don't understand. I don't understand how he keeps gating so well, I mean he is on a 250 and there are plenty of big cc thumpers on the line that should pull him by three bike lengths into the first turn. Especially Glen Helen's uphill start.
The only answer is that R.C.just has everyone mentally beat. Before the gate even drops he has won the moto.
Come on Kyle (Lewis)!!! I want to see him win one for us 30+ guys. Speaking of old guys, what about Guy Cooper! 40 years old and still fast as hell, or Danny Laporte, trying a come back at 45 but a broken wrist while practicing sidelined him.
Go old guys!!!

Why don't you bring that stumper out to the track on Sat or Sun. I'll be there Saturday and Gato and myself will be there Sunday

You don't understand how fast those factory 250's are. They are producing power equivelant to a stock 500cc bike with the wieght of a 125cc.

Those old bones don't bend and flex like they do for the young guys. They get brittle like pretzels.

You couldn't imagine how scary your 125sx would be with 70 horsepower.
Like Matt Murphy told me when I asked him why he sold his Pro-Circuit factory KX-500,
"I'm like a flag on that thing!!!"

You guys see that my man Kyle Lewis (his ex mechanic is Donny at The Pit, the guy that puts back together what I make come apart) Holesot and led BOTH moto's last weekend! I would love to see him win just one moto in the Nat's.......one of the longest lived privateer's in MX and a hell of a nice guy. If he was 6 or 7 years younger he would have a factory ride next year for sure!

I own a bike with a dyno sheet stating 74 horsepower. Cool huh. Now figure tires at $75.00 a piece, fuel at $2.00 a gal (with oil) and assume a burn rate of 12lbs an hour, $8.00 for Maxima MTL. Still with me? Hold on now...
Take a standard 4 hour trip on singletrack.
$75.00 for a tire - with all that power in a 2 stroke its impossible NOT to wheel spin. You most likely will render a tire useless after 4 - 6 hours.
$10.00 for 5 gals of fuel
$8.00 for the crankcase fluid - I'm anal about changing that on a bike with no filter.
So now you need ATLEAST $93.00 to enjoy a 4 - 5 hour single track ride. No to mention the physical exhaustion of trying to control that beast.
Cool huh!
