Ok guys and galz, I just got a Sportsman 700 efi a month ago and I am looking into either a Rhino or Ranger for the wife (and me!). Seems like most like/own the Rhino. I would like some opinions of both. I love my sportsman and think the Ranger would be also a good choice.

Pros/Cons of each? I would like to rack your brains on this one!

And no, I don't blame Rino's for rolling, I blame people for rolling, guess what, I could roll my sp700 if I was being dumb!

thx for the input

This was done about 3 weeks ago, roughly... Do a search and you'll find it..;)

Some like Polaris, some like Yamamha. Pros and cons on both. I like the Ranger. It fits my needs better than the Rhino...

Like Bill said, It's been covered before and will be covered again. No big deal. Add the Arctic Cat Prowler to your list also. Well worth the look.

I like my Ranger over the Rhino for numerous reasons but that's just me. Fuel injection, cargo and tow capacities, 3 across seating, suspension travel and it is not as loud as the Rhino. The only thing I really wish it had is the gauge cluster like the new 07's. The added width has worked in my favor more often than not.

Go online and print out the specs for each machine, lay them out and compare. Go down and put your hands on each one.

In real basic terms, the Rhino is the sport model of the 3 with a huge go fast aftermarket following. The Ranger is more the utility model with almost no go fast goodies for it. The Prowler is in between the other two, kind of a sport utility. The aftermarket is still coming up to speed on the Prowler mostly due to the fact they were so hard to get a hold of.

I personally like the Arctic Cat Prowler out of the 3.
It's a little bigger than the Rhino, but not as big as the Ranger.

You gotta decide what you wanna do with it. They all have their strengths and Not-so-strengths.

I agree with what AZOTTO said.
Rhino - More sporty with a great aftermarket
Ranger - More Utility with Great suspension travel
Prowler - Sport ute......Power, styling, suspension and the Bling factor........LOL

Some poeple want 3 across seating, some want bucket seats, some want hauling/towing capacity, some want suspension travel, some want a serious "Go Fast" pedal.

It all depends on what you want it to do. All 3 are very nice.

One of the safe bets in getting good acurate comparison information is on the internet. They have already done many comparison tests between the big three, Yamaha, Arctic Cat and Polaris.

Definately Test them all if you can.

There might be just ONE little thing that you really like on 1 and hate on another. Depends on your taste.

Good Luck.
If I could afford one, I'd get the Blinged out Lime Green Prowler......Oh Yeah!!! :D

All of these upgrades I read on here for the Ranger like ecu, programmer, can those be used on the SO 700 efi?

There are things available for the Sportsman quads. More I think than for the Ranger. The problem is very little gain for a lot of $$.

Although they share the same basic engine, there are differences between the two. The Ranger has plenty of power(07's top speed is 50 mph) but it is very de-tuned compared to a Sportsman.

Prowler, Rhino and Ranger are all great machines and each has their own high points. I love my Prowler, so any opinions I have would be biased. I think your approach to a decision is the best one, take your time and see if you can get some seat time in each one. It is a kind of far drive for you to Mesa, but if you want to get a close look at the Prowler let me know.

Wait for the next gen Rhino it will probaly have a 700 efi and the new power steering.
Their will be a new Sport Mule this next year.
It may ba based on the the Brute Force platform.
I would love a Suzuki RUV with the KingQuad 700 efi motor...
The next few years will be good for the RUV crowd if the law suits don't get kill the market for them...
Anyone rember the three wheelers and the Jeep CJ-5?

I had a 1981 185s and a 1970 CJ5. Now your talking about memories. That's when you could acually go hunting and not have all these damn ohv's driving around everywhere. I guess this is concidered a highjack. Sorry :(

I still like my Ranger. I just made a cool tube bumper for the rear, installed auxillary driving lights and a new steering wheel. I also have a Corona bottle opener on the dash for when I am down south.

That sounds like a pricy option! I think that is one of the requirements to be street legal down south isn't it? lol

Now there is A rumor about Honda comming out with a side by side unit also. If that is true you know that will also be a nice machine. I love my Arctic Cat for sure. My buddies all have the yamaha rhinos so we ride together all the time. Very similar although stock I am faster [8D] I do like the idea though that Yamaha has so many after market parts. Prowlers have some catching up to do in that department. But hey this was the first production year so that will happen I'm sure. How cool is it that we have several good choices for quality UTV'S :D

Stomper, there is a wealth of information about SP800 parts that will upgrade a Ranger here:

http://www.prcforum.com/

It's a Ranger owners website with TONS of information. We have a Ranger for my job and we all like it, but we use it strictly for utility. And we do..."Git 'er done!"

I love my Rhino but my buddy has a ranger and believe me both of them are worth every penny. I agree with most people on here you need to decide what you want out of an RUV. Good luck and and have fun.
