We plan on taking the Mammoth to Klondyke trail. I saw the previous thread on the trail, pics etc. For those that have taken that trail before, is carpet hill along that trail?

Do you remember what the name or number of the trail was? Also I was thinking can this trip be done in a day this time of the year, cause the days are getting shorter?

If we leave the staging area by 8 am will we be back by dark or will that be pushing it? thx

It depends a little on the riders ability and the ATV's, but in general you should be fine timewise.

Sorry, I forget the trail info but I'll see if I have the info stored somewhere.

Here's the GPS info posted by Kyle from the last time I went:
http://ridingarizona.com/forum//trailguide/trail.asp?TRAIL_ID=45

and to quote him -
"most of the trail is very rough and does have some difficult sections on it.
our average speed on this trip was about 18MPH and still had over four hours on the bike. add this to the hour and a half you'll spend getting lunch, the stops for the view on the way back and forth and you have a 6-7 hour ride easy."

- There were only three of us so there was very little waiting/downtime (except lunch). The riders are not known for their smarts or patience :-)

It took Teri and I twice that long but my back got tired and sore so we took lots of rest stops. Bunk

Carpet Hill's a doozy that's fer sure.
Then ya got some miles of butt poundin'.
Nice, easy an' sweet after ya get ta Parson's Grove.

Parson's Grove, Cottonwood Canyon an' especailly Araviapa Canyon absolutely breathtaking georgeous. We took our time checkin' out the sights on the way back, but I tell ya, it was always in the backs of our minds we'd haveta make it back up the Hill 'fore sunset. Sure wouldn't wanna try ta do it in the dark, skeert me just fine in the daylight.

It's one wicked awesome ride! Excellent.
