Went on a fishing trip 95 miles up Hells Canyon in Idaho on the Snake River. Landed an 8'2", 250lb Sturgeon. Took me 50min to bring him into the shore. I don't know who was more tired, me or the fish. Must use barbless hooks and you can't keep them but it sure was fun.

How did you weigh it?

The weight was an estimate by my friend who has been running the river for over 40 years. The fish measured 36inches around.
Now that's a fish.

I caught a swordfish one time off of the east coast of Florida...it was pretty cool also.

Great fish. I like the catch and release of the sturgeons. There are just not as many big ones like the old days.

Catch and Release is the only way to go with these big guys. I know that on the Columbia River they have a slot limit for keeping them, but hey, the thrill of the fight is what I'm after.

The small sturgeon are a blast to catch. when I lived in Oregon I did a lot of sturgeon fishing in Tilamook Bay and the 50-60 inch fish would fight like hell. The big fish kind of acted like big logs, but I have never caught one that big. I never got to the columbia or snake to go after the big dogs.
