View Full Version : SAND STARS
I JUST BOUGHT A NEW SET OF ITP SAND STARS FOR MY YFZ450. MY QUESTION IS THIS, THE LITTLE CLEET (MINI PADDLE) ON THE PADDLE WHEN MOUNTED IS ON THE INSIDE OF THE TIRE. iS THIS CORRECT? WHAT DOES THIS DO FOR ME?

Hey,
You are correct,
The tires are also directional. You will have a L and a R on the tire.
The little cleet is another scoop to help forward launches.
It's also great for throwing a roost on your favorite DS.
I have a set and love them.

Sand Stars do throw a lot of sand, my friends hate riding behind me.

I just dropped $520.00 on 3 sets of rears. Can't wait to try them out. Anyone needing a set of sand stars, Richards in Glendale has them on special for 159.00 for the rears. thats on Douglas .125

you will not be dissapointed, very light tire that floats well, great grab and an awesome roost let alone the ability to slide the bike easier

Just got back from the dunes and the sand stars were awesome. My 450 ran great. I ended up having to tow my buddies raptor and ended up sand blasting the front of it free of paint.

I was thinking about going with stars too, but have also heard that some people are not happy with them and refer to them as the next "sand gecko". Besides looking really neat, and the rather tall paddles, are there any issues with them (ie. floatation, flex, etc.)?

Hey,
The Starts are great....
good hookup, great turning/sliding
Awsome roost.... look great...
I would say that the only concern I have is that
they are a soft compound... need to be carefull on
other than "soft" sand.... I got a small slice on one
of the paddles... may have been from the broken glass
that was not supposed to be there in the first place.

Ditto that. Just got back from Gordons Well & spent the better part of Saturday riding behind my brother-in-law. He's got them mounted on a YFZ450 & my eyes are still swollen.
