I can't imagine anyone using Sand Stars or Gecko's for trail riding but I guess anything is possible.

I definately would not recommend riding paddles on any trails unless of course the trails are completely in soft sand (i.e. a wash).

Paddles are too expensive to be riding on any kind of hard pack surface. The hard pack rips the paddles and eventually causes them to shread.(don't do it!)[B)]

I recommend a 6-ply nobbie for trails and for your Raptor a gooD set of Skat Track (Edges) will treat you right:D:D.

I tried a few diffrent paddles on my raptor before setteling on the ITP sand star the geckos are nice but very heavy for a paddle they will wear on your clutch the sand star same basic design as the gecko but 8 lbs lighter. They grab well pull well and throw a damn good roost you will not be dissapointed. richards and lewies have them for 159.00 on .125 douglas rims I would spend the extra $12.00 and get .160 polished rims

I'd go with a paddle tire that is larger in diameter than a 20". I'd find a tire that is 21 or 22" in diameter. You'll get better top end speed and ride higher off the sand with less chance of getting stuck when you spin those rear tires. I ride a 03 Raptor with lots of mods and am very happy with the Sand Geckos. I do want the Sand Stars but am waiting for the 22" dia rears to come out so if you want those I'd wait until they do.
