I don't know what spirit of pistons, bearings and crankshaft I have recently pissed off, but I can't F'in believe this.

Blue Thunder, the low-hour '01 YZ426 I just bought last monday (yeah, like 6 days ago) ATE the big crank BEARING this morning while I was riding east of Tucson and SEIZED!!!

AAAGGHHHHHHHHHH!!!! First my RM250 seized on last weekends Camp Wood ride and now the new thumper. I have spent way too much money trying to feed my adreneline addiction lately and am thinking it would be alot cheaper (and less frustrating!) to start skydiving, rock climbing or even playing chicken with Semi trucks on I-17.

If any of you know of a good Catholic priest that specializes in removing "Mechanical Woe" demons from me, my machinery or my garage, please forward them my email address.

BAD JOHN, NO DIRTBIKE FOR YOU..........NO RACEY RACEY

Thank you

Oh yes it does. I have lost my fair share of "big bike" bottom ends.

Jkcmotox,
You can never ride any of my bikes ever agian. You are the bad luck god of bottom ends!!!!

I have only ever heard of two other YZF's eating a bottom end. One was mine (defective wrist pin clip), and one was Dayton Raper's (defective throttle hand). That is why they have a rev limiter.

Check the oil screens. There is one in the side of the engine by the water pump (oil filter), and the one that nobody knows about is in the bottom of the frame directly in front of the engine. You have to remove the oil line where it comes out of the frame, and remove the big nut and then pull out the screen. If this one gets plugged up, your crank is toast (no oil pressure).

Sorry to hear about your rides. I had my KX-500, and my YZF400 down at the same time with bottom ends once. My wife had to put a leash on me to keep me from stepping out into traffic.

Think that was the culprit....I was doing some laps on a little 4 mile loop (kinda' like you will do this Sunday :)) that had a mile long powerline and think I left her on too long.....locked up tighter than a mormon girl at prom. 14/48 sure doesn't make for much top end speed on these things does it?

Check the oil screens.

Donny at The Pit and I just did a full oil and filter change on Blue Thunder the day before she gave up the ghost, so I know she was getting oil. I disasembled the motor yesterday (craziest piston I have ever seen!) and Donny is ordering parts today and should have the bottom end back together by Friday. Cylinder is at Premiere for honing and I am taking it all to Tucson Saturday cause' Dad wants to put the topend together.

Oh yeah, the some of Donny's helper elfs are gonna' take the RM apart today, so she should be alive again by next week. Anybody wanna' buy a TOTALly rebuilt RM250?....Cheap, $3,850.

IT'S ALIVE!!!!!!!

"Blue Thunder" makes Vroooooom Vrooom noises again.

She is fresh (like a summer's eve!) and hungry for something GREEN to eat!

New rod, bottom end, topend, triple clamp, scotts damper (cannibalized from the RM250 paper weight in my garage) and N-style Patriot graphics. All for only more money than I was actually willing to spend.

NEXT WEEK: It's the RM's turn to go see the doctor.

O.K. Now, lets go out so I can show you how to ride it!!!

You missed an awesome race in Prescott. I was geared stock, and the only time I got into third gear was in the pits and a little opening on a nasty power line road.

You learn how to start that thing yet?

It is definately an art.

Just wait until some knuckle head walks over and flicks the throttle a few times. You'll definately have the blues, in the face this time, trying to start it then.
