I would say the closest to Anthem is Table Mesa Rd. I beleive TMR is 2 or 3 exits north of Anthem exit. When you get off on that exit, turn left(west). You will cross over I17. Then turn right onto the frontage road. Some of the area is State Trust Land so to be completely legal you will need a permit.

You will be right down the street (I-17) from the lower Bradshaws Mtns (Prescott National Forest). The Bradshaws have some of the best riding in the entire state.

Anthem's also within a 2 hour drive of just about all the most popular areas, desert or forest. Lucky you!

Read the RA boards. You will never lack for riding areas or riding partners.

it's real easy to get street legal, if that is what your talking about! you have to have liability insurance, horn, brake and plate light, mirror and i think that's all. you don't even have to have proof of all that when you go to DMV, at least we didn't up here in Payson! we just went to DMV, gave them our VIN and they didn't look at the bikes or check for insurance. but 2 months later, DMV sent a letter for us to send in proof of insurance. this was also with new bikes, it may be different with older ones or out of state, but call them because our DMV is easier than phoenix area DMV's. the state land permits are also required for different areas to ride. i think that is thru AZ ST LAND & TRUST. look thru some of the forums, there is some web sites and numbers for them. good luck and happy trails!

TRXTECATE, The riding here is excellent!! and thats coming from another Long Island transplant(Smithtown). You'll love the riding and love that its so close. You can hit the Nation forest trails about 45 minutes north or ride in the desert which is only a few miles from you. Both of these areas are great and have marked trail systems in place. No more trying to out the police, here. RICH

Not to take a cheap shot at you or anyone else living there, but if they keep building places like "Anthem" and such, our riding areas dwindle down that much faster. Where were all the tree huggers at when that place was being built? My guess is, it won't be long before Table Mesa is closed to riders because of dust complaints or development[V].

Once again, no offense to anyone on this board, just my opinion.

TRXTECATE, I too was once a North Easterner. I remember the riding dilema there. It always seemed that when you found a great place to ride, it was soon shut down. Anyay, welcome to Arizona - a great state for ATV enthusiasts. There's a bunch of good riding areas within 1-2 hr drives from where you'll live. Log on to Anthem Annonomus. I hear that is where it's at for Anthem residence. Lots of NY'ers. In fact they had a big blo out party for all the people from NY. It was a hit and are planning another one.

LOL- Isn't that what the Indians said before we came and took their land away from them? How about when they built Scottsdale or Chandler? So what gives you "first rights" to Arizona? LOL- Hey I think it was a cheap shot. Especially to someone just moving here. He didn’t tell the state to sell the land to Del Web. I think that was a pretty mean way to greet a new resident to our state. If you should blame anyone maybe you should blame yourself.
