View Full Version : Whiplash Pro Payback is changing! Points Fund to!
I'm surprised nobody mentioned this yet. ElGato is really going to like this- In the Kahuna section of SON, Jay writes-
"While it is still unclear whether we can add some LONG COURSE races to our schedule, the ones that are on our list, Rock to Rock, Point to Point, Wickenburg and Snowflake will keep the same entry fees, but starting in 2004, we will DOUBLE the CURRENT PAYBACK!! AND We will create a POINTS FUND!! Starting in 2004 we will take ALL LATE FEES and put them in the fund, ear marked for the class that paid them. The top 3 finishers in each class will share the BOOTY at the end of the year.
At this point, we will have to add some SHORT COURSE RACES like GILA BEND and PIMA MOTORSPORTS PARK to our schedule. While we can make the same LATE FEE contribution to teh POINTS FUND at these races, the purse will depend on the REDUCED ENTRY FEE.
Tell your friends, we can make 2004 a BANNER YEAR!!"

I read that as a bike pay back also. I'm curious to see how things are going to work next year.

How would a "Class" end-of-the-year payout work?

Let's say that David (ElGato) takes first in points at the end of the year, then he would get let say 600 dollars
2nd place: 400 dollars
3rd place: 200 dollars.
The extra money would go into the pot for the end of year, and an extra payback, they would split it up with the top points finishers..:D

But the points are accrued by Division (40+) which does not change during the season. The Class you run in may change, move up from beginner to intermediate. So if you want to win the Class points, you need to finish near the top, but not fast enough that you get moved up to the next class. You want to stay in the lowest class so you get more points and more money. My question is, is that the way it will work?
Not only that but if faster classes get more money (like Bracket Racing), the goal would be to get moved into the expert class for the last race of the season and transfer all those beginner and intermediate points. Of course, this only works once, but money is money :D

I think it applies to the pro classes, by it saying "double the current payback."

Well I hope I didn't get everyone excited for nothing as I am not sure if this applies to everyone, or just cars and trucks. Please Forgive me if I am wrong. [:I]
Dezrcr- I think duneDS650 was referring to the year end points fund, and not the double pay back that only pros would get per race finish.
Dune DS650- That would have to be a typo- Class meaning Division. The class you race in (ie. ATV1, MC4) has nothing to do with year end points. I read it to mean that the top 3 year end points finishers in each division, would split late fees that had been collected in their division (ie. Open, Fourstroke, 40+) so each division would have a different "booty" amount. If there were no late fees collected in say 40+, then there would be no money to split in that division.
Again though, I could be full of doodoo. [:I][:o)]

Because of dwindling car and truck turn-out, Jay has assigned (recruted) Ron dalke to reorganize the car and truck desert program. He has lost many racers over the years including me. The year end points fund is for the car and truck guy's, to get more entries in these classes...
Running a car or truck, even at an whiplash race is an considerable expense
