I will be traveling out to Arizona around Christmas with my family for some great quad riding. I need a little help finding some great riding areas in the Southeast part of the state that may offer camping or at least hotels near by. I sure would apprecitate any help. I own a motorcycle shop in Florida and would be glad to help out any members that can clue me in to make our trip more enjoyable.

Thanks

My bad.
I didn't see the SOUTHEAST in your post. I'm sure someone else will have some relevant info.

I have all honda quads, I am looking for a decent place to stay that has great trails nearby in case some members of the family dont want to go play every day. I was looking in the Nogales district. We will be driving out from Florida and pulling a 28ft trailer. Thanks a lot for any info.

I personally would stay away from riding and camping anywhere along the border. There has been to many problems lately with the illegal aliens.

Terry,

I have purchased some items from your shop. I saw your name and started singing that crazy song... "It's a small world"

I hope you enjoy your trip to Arizona. I wish I could give you details for the South East part of the state, but I have never ridden down by Nogales. I live near Phoenix and usually ride nearby or up in the mountains to the North.

There are some people on here near Tucson. Maybe they will have more info for you.

Thanks for the business guys, it is definitely a small world. Looks like Arizona Griz has convinced me to find a different area to ride. I really dont care where just dont want too much cold weather and would like some nice scenery. Any help will be appreciated.

MARCUMS,
If you stay in the Phoenix area, On the west side I'd stay somewhere in Goodyear where your close to town and Lots of close riding like the Wickenburg area and there's the Crown King run north of Lake Pleasent. To the east if you stay in the Mesa area you'll have the 4 peaks area and Martinez Mine ride (Which I'm still trying to make).
Down south In Yuma you'll have the dunes right across the Cali border. I'm not sure on what kind of desert riding there is on the Az side but sure someone can add some feedback. Plus there it's a short run to San Diego and some cool small Mexican towns across the border.

Hot Well dunes near Safford Looks like it would be worth a day. Also around Toumbstone and I hear the Santa Rita Mtns. has some good riding. And don't forget the Chiricahua mtns. I would say get a AZ atlas & gazetteer and look it over, you can get that at most big book stores, I just saw them at B Dalton last week. Sorry to say that Dec. and Jan. is the coolest time of the year in the south part of AZ. Hope this helps. Bunk

There are a few trails that I've read about south of Tucson. Gunsight Pass,Gardner Canyon,Bull Springs Road, and Patagonia Mountains. If you would like some great info on these areas, pick yourself up a copy of Guide to Arizona Backroads & 4-Wheel Drive Trails by Charles A. Wells. You will find a bunch of usefull info in that book including maps, trail descriptions, gps waypoints, and lots of pictures.

Try this link to see if it will help you decide on your planning...

The Area around Nogales, Rio Rico and Sonoita is mostly for fishing around the Patagonia State Park, it's nice but there aren't many places to ride...

Marcums Check out the Safford Az. area. We have the Hot Well Dunes and miles of primitive roads open for riding. Safford has 2 RV parks and Roper Lake State Park with RV hookups. I am helping develop an OHV brochure for the area at this time and will give you any help I can. I have a 4 seat rail built for the rough rocky roads in the area and ride most weekends 50-100 miles. The elevation here is 3000 feet and daytime temps are about 5 degrees cooler than Tucson 34 this morning and 70 this afternoon. Mt. Graham is in our backyard at 10700 feet.
