I'm headed to Ocotillo Wells on Sunday, Nov23 through Nov30.

I heard there is a bar hidden somewhere out there that you
can only get to on a 4x4, dirt bike, or ATV. Can anyone
give me directions to this place?

Any suggestions on where to set up camp?

Thanks,
Chris

Are you talking about the "IRON DOOR", cause its not hidden. cause it is just south of the BLOW SAND (3 miles maybe)on the main road.

No, there is supposed to be one somewhere off the
highway and way back in the hills somewhere. I
vaguely remember reading about it on RA.

Not sure if this is the place you are referring to but this place is called the Blu Inn Park. Here are the GPS coordinates: N33.12528 W116.04421

Here is a map with the Pumkin Patch, Gas Domes and the Blu Inn on it. We normally park on the North side of this map and go South on Cross Over Trail.

Here is what it looks like from the front:

You will know you found it when you smell the rotten dog:

Chris,

This BAR that you are referring to is actually up near Parker. It runs off of generators. Alot of the Parker 400 people hit it during that time of year. But since you are going to Ocotillo..Shannon hit it right. The Blu Inn is cool place to grab a burger and a ice cold drink. We usually go camp up off of Holly Road..off of 86 and S-22..thus enabling us to steer clear of the crowds down south--but that spot is even getting busy too.

Thanks For the tips.

Bummer I missed RA in Ocotillo Wells last year.
I was out there with about 10 others. We already
made plans to meet people out there, otherwise
I would head out to Dome Rock. I don't think I would
be welcome back after singing Karoake anyway.

Thanks for the tips guys. We had a great week and checked
out all the sights. The kids are riding awesome. They climbed
all the hills on Kx-65s. They skipped along the tops of
the whoops with the adults. They have come a long way since
last year. We trucked the bikes to pole line road and rode
to the gas domes from there. The kids bikes did not have enough
range to get there from the airport, and they didn't want any
part of riding quad out there. In another two years, they are
both going to be on 85's. I hope I can still keep up with them.

We are going to camp at Pole Line Road next year.

I am looking forward to the RA Easter trip.

No, we didn't find the bar. I am probably thinking of the bar in Parker that gmoney mentioned. I guess you just have to pack your own in ;)
