View Full Version : Enduro Qualifier and Poker Run - 11/16-17/02
Just wanted to let everyone know that the Arizona Trail Riders will be holding an Enduro and Poker Run on November 16th & 17th. The events will be held on BLM land at mp11.5 (the Rocks) with the poker run on Saturday and the enduro on Sunday. The enduro will be run as a qualifier which means that timekeeping equipment is not required. Reason being most of your score will be calculated from special test sections which you run one at a time.
The poker run will be open to quads and bikes and the enduro will be open to bikes only. Both events will be AMA sanctioned which means you must be an AMA member to participate. Just so you know the main reason for going with the AMA is to secure affordable insurance. We realize getting the AMA adds an extra cost however you can rest assured that you money is going to a worthy organization.
Entry forms will be available beginning in October at www.arizonatrailriders.org and in shops all over town.

Sounds like a blast. Count me in.
I've never done an enduro, but I'll figure it out as I go, I guess. No time keeping means I don't have to think. Just do what I do best; take my brain out, put it in the gear bag, and twist the throttle.
Hopefully I'll have the new bike by then.

Cool!
I think you'll like the race format. The course is divided up by checkpoints as in a normal enduro, but the sections are all either transfer or special test. That means you can take your time (within reason) through the transfer section and when you start the special test section its all about how quickly you get through that test. You never need to keep track of whether you're behind or ahead on the clock. Riding skill/speed alone will determine the winner.

So that means I can rest between special test sections.
Sweet, I'm all over that biz!!!!!
That is what I like about the Laughlin Hare Scramblers. You haul @$$ for an hour then rest for an hour, then go back out for another hour. Three laps for you, and three laps for your teammate.
Riding skill/speed alone will determine the winner.
OH, YA!!!!!!

Looks like i'll be working the timing software during the race. I'll have to sit this one out. Good Luck to everyone that enters.

Cool!!!
I have been getting the itch to do a enduro race, sounds like a good way to learn a little bit about it. Anybody know of any other close enduro races....heard something about a couple in New Mexico from some guys in Tucson, anyone have any info?

Usually about 1/2 of what a Whiplash entry is. You will need your AMA card.
Hey, glad to see all the interest.
The entry fee's have not been decided just yet but figure on the $40-$45 range for the enduro and $10-$15 for the poker run. This does not include your AMA registration fee. I should have entry forms available around the first of October and I will let you know where you can find them.
You can get to the mp11.5 by taking Hwy 74 West (the way to Lake Pleasant) and follow it to mp11.5 and turn right(north). Go back about a mile until you come to a large clearing. All the trails are marked and there is alot of riding available. Have fun!
