What's everyone racing next year????
It looks as if I'm going to give Kyle, Randall, and Ben a run at the Az championship next year. I haven't run a full Az season since 1999. I had a good run at the championship in 2000 but got hurt in October and missed the last two rounds and the first three in 2001. Haven't done them all since. I can't stand around and let these youngsters make us "Experienced Veterans" look bad anymore, are you with me Travis??. I've been doing just selected races the last couple years but it just doesn't seem rewarding to me anymore, the break is over.
TJ keeps hinting on wanting to do the AMA H&H series and it looks pretty inviting. I will definately have to do a lot more training before I tackle something like that. Althought three races interfere with Az races. Still would like to knock out as many as possible.
I would also love to put together an OPEN PRO team to do the Baja-500. That is one of my favorite long distance desert races. Maybe and RA team, Myself, Travis, Ben, TJ ?????? I'll even supply the bike. We just need to get someone to pay the entry and pit support. Mag-7 is a lot cheaper than Honda pits but you have to supply your own dump cans.

I will be doing a few different things next year.
The first of year kicks off with the Parker 250 BITD. Jason, and myself will be defending our title in the expert class.
There is also the WORCS race in January at Canyon that is on the schedule for me.
Tecate Hare Scamble, maybe
National Enduro, maybe
Vegas to Reno BITD for sure!!!!!!!!!!!
I will do the Baja with the RAer's!!! I have dump can, and access to 3 total if needed. I think that would be a blast to represent R/A down at the Baja.
I not too sure if I will be in for the 2004 Championship, but will hit the races that I can.

Worcs race at Canyon in January was moved to Mesquite, NV. Lake Havasu is still on it seems.
I wrote them to ask them why. Here is what I got in return:
Hello Joseph,
We now have a very nice casino a couple of miles from the track for our banquet. We have worked a dual points event with another association, possibly a triple sanction as well. It's close to Las Vegas for folks who want to make it into a vacation. We needed an event in NV to pick up another state. The Casino may put up a large pro purse. I am sorry if this inconvenienced you, however we felt it was the best thing for the series. Let me know if there's anything else you need. Thanks
Thank you,

Thanks for posting that info AZ Jose. WORCS has been working with MRAN to put on a joint 2 race effort in 2004. I did not know they had finalized anything yet but if D Hammel says so than it's SO :( I was looking forward to the AZ race also. You can get more info to see if it is MRAN @ www.go-desert.com & click on MRAN. This orginization is a collection of private clubs in NV with each club responsible to put on one race per year.

Next year is all about BITD for me. We're going to attempt to race the entire season in the expert class on my YFZ450 quad. The YFZ looks to be well up to speed, but I'm still waiting on suspension, shocks and my GPR stabilizer. Hopefully we'll be good to go by Parker, or it's gonna be a bumpy ride.
I'll be racing with former 1980's 3-wheeler champ and class 1-2 car racer Sam Carlise, and everyone's favorite Whiplash sweep rider, Bill Williford. Go team fatboy!
I'm sure I'll get a few Whiplash races in the mix. Lake Pleasant and Prescott are a must as long as schedules don't conflict. Searchlight is also on schedule and probably the Elsinore GP.

I'm noot sure if Lynn is racing the series again or not, but she did tell me she won't be racing in Mexico any more. I'm not quite clear on what exactly happened to her there. I talked to her at Elsinore and she said they are selling the Bombardier and racing desert on a YFZ. She's keeping her Honda 250R to race MX.
Good luck to you guys to! If you need any pit help at the races, don't hesitate to ask. :D

My number is 22T. The year end points winner in this division will be awarded a new Yamaha YFZ450. I always wanted to race GNCC and finally we have our own version on the left coast.:D So who else plans to attend round 1 in Mesquite, Nevada?

I am planning on racing Lake Pleasant and Rock to Rock in '04. I live in the mid-west but I will be in Phoenix visiting friends. I raced Rock to Rock and Alto-Pit in '03. What I need help with is the races I did in '03 were on an ATV. I will be riding the '04 races on a '98 KX-250. I am looking for advice on gearing. Stock is a 13-48. I am thinking a 15-48 would be good for Rock to Rock. I have no idea what to expect from Lake Pleasant. Can you guys describe the terrain and advise me on what gearing to use? Thanks, Nate

I would run stock gearing for Lake Pleasant. The race course is rocky, hard pack, and sand wash all in one. There is also many ups and downs. About 12 miles into the course there is a good sized hill climb that last about 1 mile. Then you know what they say what goes up must come down. By the end of the day the course is very rough, but one of the best races of the year.

NSCOTT since you are coming all the way from MO you want to get it right SO 15-45 for Mexico & something close to stock for Lake Pleasent. You have done Mexico once and it has not gotten any slower [B)] so be prepared for a 100mph dust storm for 120 miles. Pleasent is semi technical slower FUN race with very few fast (short) sections.
Also for you MRAN guys I know a BUNCH of the Bushwackers are coming to Mexico for the May race. Good Luck [^]

Thanks for the tips guys. I look forward to Lake Pleasent, that sounds like a really fun race. Got another question....Here in Missouri we are not required to register our dirt bikes. They don't give us a sticker to ride off road like they do in AZ. So when most bikes are sold new people don't go down and pay sales tax on them. Without paying sales tax they never get a title for the bike. This not only saves them money on sales tax but they don't have to pay property tax on the bike every year. Do you know if we were to take out bikes in to Mexico if we would be required to have titles to bring them back? Would a notorized bill of sale work? The last two time we have gone to Mexico with the ATV's we were never stopped. Just curious. Don't want to risk it. Thanks!

You get stopped going into Mexico. People usually don't steal stuff in Mexico and bring it into the US (It's the stuff they grow that comes in). The Mexican authorities are actually doing the checks at our request.
Proof of ownership, like bill of sale should be good.
You also need titles for your truck and trailer. A mountain of paperwork is usually enough if you get stopped. Out-of-state plates might a red flag.

yeah, watch out when you go down there with 3 or more bikes in one name...they can be a dic* and not let you bring them. only one. tried taking a bunch of quads and they would'nt let us. it sucks. even with the titles and everything
A buddy of mine had trouble at the border once because he had only a photo copy of the title and almost had to come all the way back to Phoenix but argued enough to get through. So take that for what it's worth.
