Just moved to the west side of Phoenix, and looking for someone to show me around to some good desert riding with some decent size jumps, not much of a track person, just like jumping and not having to worry about who's on the other side or who's on my ass. Been riding since 5 yeares of age, and im now 31. I live off of 99th and Buckeye. Does anyone know if there is any good desert riding out this way???

Thump201,
Welcome to the site.
What do you ride? Lake Pleasent area is good. Mile marker 11.5 is a popular place to some members here.
Why don't you post yourself in the Introduction section so we know what you ride and when you like to ride....:)
See ya out there....

Take Lower Buckeye rd west to the river bottom, or take I-10 west to the Hasayamppa River...miles and miles of jumps and sand and what not.

Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day.
Teach a man to fish and he will sit in a boat all day, drinking.

How would I get to Mile Marker 11.5??? I ride a 2003 CR250, mostly free ride, like doing the desert thing, Where I used to ride in the east valley (201) we had a whole freestyle track set up out there, and now that state department has shut the land off for riding. Do you have any suggestions on how to get to this place you are talking about??? quote:Originally posted by Fooll

Take 99 ave to Carefree Hwy & go left (West) until you see small entrance on North side of Hwy near MM 11.5...Nice area with several types of riding including singletrack.

I drove to mm11.5 and saw a very small staging area right as I turned in. Are there any larger areas to park farther back in or do I just have to pull off somewhere?

Hey Thump,

Everyone is right on target here. MM11.5 is a cool place that will take you on anything from jeep road, sand wash to SINGLETRACK. Also might want to try the White Tanks, which is out towards Perryville (West).

In reference to your post about 201. There are still places to ride out there. That particular entrance was closed but there is still plenty of area to ride. State Land has had some help from many organizations including Riding Arizona with marking trails out in that area. Try 207 now.

Good luck and welcome to Riding Arizona!

I rode 207 for a while.......Have you ever been to 210??? There is a pretty decent supercross track back there, My friend built it about 5 years ago, and it's still pretty good today.I was out there about 2 weeks ago, and it was still in pretty good shape. The biggest jump there is about a 55 foot double, but it's lipped out pretty good, so it throws you pretty high. Not many people know about this track, many people have looked for it, but never find it. But it does exist, if anyone is up for going, I will be willing to show you. It's hidden pretty well.
Good luck and welcome to Riding Arizona!

All along Carefree highway from 99th ave to I-17 is open for riding. I was just up there yesterday and had a great ride. Unfortunately 107th ave and Jomax is pretty much shut down. There was a Sheriff in an unmarked white pickup there to make sure no one was shooting. He didn't care that we rode in the river bottom though. If you stay north of Jomax along 99th ave you should be fine. Plenty of riding all over there. Another spot I ride at is I-17 and Happy Valley, north of Happy Valley on the west side of I-17. Plenty of good riding and I've found a couple of good jumps back in there.

I went out there last weekend to scout things out and all I saw was a bunch of new no treaspassing signs and big mounds of dirt and rock anywhere someone might have tried to enter.

Well, there's on less place we can go.

Anyway you get to the Hassayampa, it's great riding. You can actually take it all the way to Wickenburg. Plenty of jumps, etc. There are also a couple of man-made tracks off to the east, about 5 miles north of old US 80. Some cool gravel pits too.

i got ur spot either over by canyon raceway there is a road before the bridge to canyon adn you take that and go past the electrical area and there is some nice jumps there in a big ditch with lots of trails around...or across the street at wildhorse park there and go south and look for the dam in between the mtns. in front of that there is some cool jumps

Wow, didn't know they did that. I do know you can access that area along Carefree Highway west of I-17. We rode in that area behind the bar at 99th and Carefree and they haven't shut that area down yet. Sucks that they put those signs up. Guess you can't stop progress.

Has everybody forgot about the White Tanks? Lots of good riding up on Bell road west of McMicken Dam on the South side of the road; Indian School Road and Jackrabbit; also on the South side of the mountains at Miller Road and I-10. Let me know if anyone is up for a ride. I thought about going out Wednesday 12/31 or Friday 1/2.

I just got some paperwork from the State Land office and it has the White Tank Mountains Stae land as being closed. It shows the land at the base of the mountains around following Sun Valley rd. on either side. I'm not sure if this is the area Paul was talking about but if it is then it's closed also.
