My Prowler is about ready for tires. I think I've narrowed it down to 2 choices. Does anyone have any experiences with the Bighorns or the Terracross R/T tires? I ride about 50% at the dunes, and the other 50% mixed between trails and some limited blacktop. I am also gonna get some new 14" black offset wheels. Thanks in advance!!

Bighorns bar none. ;) I believe the Terracross cost more anyways. I don't think neither are very great in the sand.

I don't know how they would do at the dunes but definitely Bighorns for everything else. My dad runs Terracross on his quad and seems to like them but he doesn't do much hard riding. I have read on other forums that the Terracross are prone to flats and don't wear as well as Bighorns.

I've got over 10K on my two sets of Bighorns and they are unbelievable tough. Not great in the mud and have no idea about sand but they are indestructable so far.

Hunterworks has a wheel and tire site that I looked at. The Terracross tires with 4 custom 14" black wheels were about $700 shipped. I don't know if they had the Bighorns. I will check. If you all don't know which ones get the best traction in the sand, which do you think will hold up better with 3 lbs. of air in them? Oh I also heard that the Terracross tires were very lightweight which is beneficial in the dunes. I don't know how heavy the Bighorns are.

I don't know about UTVs. But I bought bighorns for my quad and love them. I had narrowed it down to the same two choices. And I hunt and still have a questions about Bighorns in mud and snow. But I sure do love them here on these rocks:D

I have a friend who is a motorcycle/atv mechanic. His recommendation is to stay as close to the factory tire as possible to avoid problems. I suppose that is good advise, as far as it goes.

I chose the Bighorns and found that, ordering the same dimensions (25") made me lose about 1/2 inch of ground clearance. (From the factory Carlisles). But I still think they're great.

The ITP's are a softer compound so I suspect they would be better at low pressure

ITP SS-108 in black with bighorns for the Prowler run about 750 from our store (with the RA discount). There are many other combinations to choose from. Send me a PM of e-mail for a quote, or just post the combo you want here.

I have not done a great job on the wheel and tire sections of my site, as there are so many combinations to choose from it's hard to organize things. That is why HW has a seperate site just for wheels and tires.

It generally takes a couple days to get them.

I posted this last night, but don't see it today so here goes again. The bighorns ride much better on the road. Every time I have been in a SXS with terracross tires it shakes and wobbles. It's not as noticable on the dirt. I have the bighorns on my Rhino, and they work just fine in the sand with about 3-5 psi in them. Not as good as 489s or paddles, but pretty good.

I have terras and bighorns at the shop, I'll weigh them when I get in today.

I also vote for the Bighorns! The Terra Cross have had more problems reported from folks , easy to flat, wear to soon because of the soft compounds etc.
