I need to get out and RIDE!. Looking for someone to ride with so I don't end up in a wrecked heap in the middle of nowhere by myself :)
Actually, I'm looking for a fast/and explore/scenic and occasional challenges type of ride, the more variety, the better. I'm not looking for a casual ride or extensive rock crawling. I really don't know a lot of places to go other than the coves. Any suggestions and willing participants? I'm in the Mesa area and willing to travel a couple of hours if needed. I also have room on the trailer for one more quad if you need a ride.
Give me a call at 480 540-6216 and let me know what's up! Barring better suggestions, I'll probably end up at the coves because that's what I know!
See ya and hope to hear from ya!

Where or what is the "coves"? Do you me Rolls/Four Peaks area and going down to Sahuaro Lake?
Me and my brother plan on going out ain the afternoon tomorrow and I live in Mesa. I was going to go to the Four Peaks area as I have not updated my State Trust Lands Permit for this year.

Yup! That's the area. The nice thing about the Rolls area is it has a lot of diversity of terrain. I've been looking at the Upper Sycamore Creek loop. That's supposed to be challenging, especially on a 2x4, so of course I want to do it :) Problem is I don't know the route. I figured I'd go park at the North Rolls staging area and go exploring from there.
I should be up there 10ish to 11ish. Give me a call and we'll see if we can't meet up at some point! (I'll need to refuel at some time I'm sure)

If anyone wants to meet up at the staging area, I have a white Jeep Cherokee with a for sale sign on it and a yellow Suzuki 250 quad. You can always call my cell phone to give me a heads up too and I'll keep an eye out for you.
Ciao!

Sorry, I didn't go as my brother didn't come home until 1130 am and went to bed. He went four wheeling all night with his Suzuki Samauri.
I might go out tomorrow, early afternoon.

It was GOOOOOD! Other than just about rolling the quad at the top of the hill at the first cove, no problems! Started at the bottom of the hill in second...mistake, I was about three feet from the top and going cross the hill to try to keep the momentum going, when that dang two-stroke engine gave up it's last wee bit of torque. There I was hanging off the left side just praying it wouldn't start rolling over and heading ALL the way back down. After my legs stopped shaking, I got off the quad (it stayed perfectly still for me) and got on the downside to spin it around and go back down. My confidence was shaken, I had to go up the easy side (left side) and up the hill across the cove before I came back to try the face of this one again. Started in first and cleared it...yaaaaaay (I do a great job of cheering for myself)
Ended up going through a tank and half of gas and exploring most of the rolls. Met up with some of the folks from the AZVJC site, they had a planned run out there today.
I'm very sore, but feel great...gotta do more!!!!
I'll give more of a heads up next time I plan on heading out somewhere and maybe someone can lead the way on some new trails.
Don't sweast it Sandrider, it woulda been nice if.... but I managed to have a blast anyway, we'll meet up on another run!
Great start to a great New Year!
PS. Time to start modifying that suspension...man that will beat you up![:p]
