Happy holidays everyone. Well I havent purchased any boots or armor as of yet so single track was out of the question. According to my other half I need to sell my XT before I can buy any equipment. I instead headed out for a solo ride with the first stop the AZ dmv. Ive been riding on the street for over 12 years and figured this motorcycling is ok, Its about time I get my lic. I passed the test so no more looking in the rear view for me. I realy dont like driving a motorcycle in town but figured since I was close to Downtown I would cut thru and head up to the South mountain Summit trail.

The twisting roads were great. I'll need to be a little more careful on the hairpins, venturing into the opposite lanes could be painful. The road/view up & down was awesome and a whole lot of engine breaking didnt hurt either. Well enough of the twistys I needed to get in some off road before sundown.

The quickest way to the White Tanks was to hit the 17 then the 10 and the 101, or so I thought. Im not very comfortable having a SUV bumper kissing my tail pipe while im going 70 mph but It is small trade off if I can get in some dirt riding before it gets to late. I dont even like driving my car on that parking lot they call Bell Ave. It took over 45 min to make it from the 101 to Crozier. Im going to have to find another route if I attempt this ride again.

I made it to the White Tanks, its only my second time there so Im not very familiar with the area but it was great to get some trails in. The whole ride was 135 miles a personal best for the year 2004 and since it is a leap year I have 364 more days to break the record. I would like to do some riding south of Bell but I need someone to fill me in if I need a permit to ride there. Im looking forward to meeting up with some other Dual Sporters I would like to hit the 4 peaks primitive road, Hassayampa River and the weather station out towards Tonapah in the coming months.

When heading out towards the whitetanks, we tend to take Grand all the way to Bell Road and head on out.

Always willing. Maybe not always available, but always willing (to ride).

"I'd be interested in some Dual Sport Riding but the less highways the better !" .... Yeah, me too, that's really more my style. I pretty much like to minimize the asphalt[8D].

"Always willing. Maybe not always available, but always willing (to ride)." LOL .....well put:D.

Razorback........"I would like to do some riding south of Bell but I need someone to fill me in if I need a permit to ride there."
I believe that a state land trust permit is required. You should see signs posted, or better yet look at a map. Since south of Bell covers alot of area, hehehehe. I do know that south of Bell closest to the North side of White Tanks a permit is required.
I am also ready for a ride over Four Peaks. Can someone name a date? How about really making it fun and do a Friday after work ride?

Motorcycle, Jeep, Jeep, Motorcycle, hum which one today?

I hope all of the northern members keep me in mind when it gets to warm down here. Do you guys have some nice cool pine forest trails all planned out for the summer?
