Seems like there are no dove hunters, any squirrel hunters? Anyone go to the rim to hunt squirrels?

I'm guessin' there are a few beaver hunters around here.

How does squirrel taste? And how many do you need to get a decent serving of edible meat?

I hunt both….. Only problem is the only dove I see are in my neighborhood. The Glendale Police frown on my bagging my limit there…..

Squirrel…. I love the hunt but my wife is not nuts about me bringing squirrels home…. She always says she has visions from the movie Deliverance. So my hunting buddies get all my squirrels.

Ruger 22Mag, ATV ride.... Squirrel shooting.... It is a great day!

PS Squireel tastes like chicken:D

My favorite squirrel area is in the closure area up north of Strawberry. :(

Try boiling the head and cracking it open like an egg to get to the brain. [:p]

We used to hunt them all the time as kids. Grandma made a heck of a stew. Never watched how, so that recipe is long gone.

If you want to Dove hunt go to Yuma, it's one of the best places in the US. You shouldn't have any problem filling you daily bag limit.

You guys want to set something up, any takers? For doves, I think i will try the wickinburg area first, maybe just go out the first day and listen to where the shooting is taking place. I heard it was awesome for doves. For the rats, we should put somethign together up on the rim if it is open. I was up there several times and found a nice place off 300, lot of gray squirrels. DOes anyone know if you have to be drawn to hunt mule deer (bow) off 300?

Deer tags for archery are over the counter for now.

I might just get the old bow out, tune it and head out. As for the heads, i have never eaten the brain... .just dont think i could!!! I have eaten a lot, ants, grasshoppers but i just cannot make myself eat the brains.. I dont see anything on the map for that area that indicates a drawing to hunt deer around knoll lake.

It's not near as good as beaver. That beaver is good eatin'. If you can find a hairless one, that's one less step for later!:D:D

Boiling the head? We used to fry the heads, and eat the tongue and all (ok, it's not a lot) of meat on the skull. For breakfast. My kids didn't believe me till I took them back home and my uncle had squirrel heads and eggs for breakfast.

now, I have eaten ants, grsshoppers and crickets alive but I did not eat them because they were delicious!!![:p] Fry the heads, to me that is just as bad..lol.. I showed my kids eating insects was ok ( taste like i remember, horrible ) and my kids were going nuts.. I bet your kids were bouncing off the walls watching you eat the heads:D
