I was up North this past weekend and took our new Rhino 660 through some mud. I punched it to get it through and hit a rock with the left front tire. It snapped the spindle. Is this common or a defective part? I have searched the web and haven't seen the problem discussed. The rhino is a week old. It wasn't crazy offroad driving (I had my kids with me). Any ideas? Thanks

Wow.....thats a new one for me.........I beat the the hell outta mine and i haven't had any problems.......
I beat the snot out of mine this weekend....and have been racing it short course in stock form for a while now - on the original stock spindles......
Yes, spindles can break....we see this in desert racing if you nail something hard with one of your wheels.......not a defective part, but something you have to be careful of.....there are aftermarket spindles available....if you tend to be really hard on yours....

That's what I thought. I wasn't even running it hard. I had my 1 year old and 3 year old in the back when it snapped and we ended up on our side. Good thing for harnesses and roll cages. I am assuming it is not a warranty issue then[V].
With a 4-seater and cage....no - I doubt it would be warranty. When you add that type of weight, you change the whole distribution and handling characteristics of your rhino from what it was originally designed for, so that would void your warranty. Also, if you are running offset wheels, or spacers, or big tires....all of that also puts alot of excess pressure on that spindle......so if you have any of those things, that could also contribute to the issue.....

Not really big. Just my dumb luck to find the one rock in the mud and hit it just right[:0]
