Only if he lets me measure it. ;):D
Why shoot Coyotes? Are they a pest to the farmers in the area or something? Is it always legal or? I don't know much about hunting rules/regs.

Coyotes are a pest to antelope populations and since the trapping ban and the removal of other predators to keep them in check would run rampant if they were not harvested by hunters. There is no bag or possession limit on coyotes, and the season runs year round except on national wildlife refuges. And they are a blast to hunt.
Thanks for the Clarification cvgriffs.............Let's go.;)

Actually coyotes and white-tailed deer have expanded their home range in modern times. Coyotes are very opportunistic. There is no shortage of them.
Like said above, they are a problem with antelope fawn survival.
I personally hunt a lot and have never shot one.

They are also very hard on the mule deer population as well. The coyotes will try very hard to get to the fawns, they work in shifts. The coyotes will attack until the doe can no longer fight, due to exhaustion. Then they take the fawn.
Antelope have it far worse though, they take the fawn as it is exiting the womb[V] Sometimes injuring the mother in the process.
Anderson mesa used to be filled with Antelope, they were everywhere you looked. Last year I hunted there for four days, and never saw a single antelope:(
Yup, coyotes make great moving targets!:)
BTW: Awesome season, Congrats!!!!

AAA, you folks will eat well! You've got to be kidding about this being your first coyote! Get a good comfortable chair, camo out, break out the .223 buy a distressed rabbit call and become the hunted! There are very few hunts that can compare to calling in a coyote or bobcat! It's a trip when they come running in to your call, they're looking to eat you for lunch! What a blast![:p]

Let me guess, your dad and sister were hunting area 3 in the Rodeo/Chedesky burn area near Pinedale. Right! If so, Lucky draw and great trophies![:p]

Very nice, congrats on all the successful hunts.
ArizonaGriz: Yeah, he's going to get it measured, just passed the 60 day limit. Not sure I understand why the minimum is so low, 260? So minimum to max is 260-442? That's quite a bit!
Brudahpete/ilikedirtbikes: Yes we were hunting in 3 on the elk hunts, we were lucky! The mule deer bucks were northern Utah. The does were 12A West Junior hunts. And the coyotes were in the coyote heaven.
I've never seen so many coyotes in my life. Dozens running around chasing antelope and deer. The game and fish needs to give us shooting helicopter rides or start paying us for pelts or something!

I sure hope so -- If not there's plenty in the area, just need to be in the right place at the right time.
