I was wondering if anybody has ventured up to the top of White Tanks. I have been to one of the lower west towers on the mountain, but my question really focuses on the central top of the mountain. Has anyone been up that far??? If so, how long did it take? Thanks!!!

I have been all the way up on top where all of the cell towers are since that is what I do for a living. I will tell you that if you get caught up there with a motorized vehicle and you are not authorized, be prepared to pay the consequences.

Whats the time it takes to get up there? are there different ways to reach the towers or just one way? (I promise not to go near or within the towers)

There is only one way that I know of and that is thru the Catapillar Proving Grounds at the end of (I think) Indian School Road. The gate is always locked. I have been told about a locked gate at the north end of the mountain but I have never seen it.

Its not the fact of going near the towers that will get you in trouble its the fact that most of that land is private land / state land that is not designated for OHV's. Honestly I dont think that would be a fun ride anyway. There is only one path and it leads to both peaks thats it.I also work for a cell company and have been up there multiple times. A better ride would be up to the top of Four Peaks due to the amount of riding available out there and the fact that its legal.

Disco1,
Thank you for your post. You hit it right on the head. Just because you can doesn't mean you should. Riding in areas not designated for OHV use hurts our sport and our ability to keep open areas that are designeted for OHV use. Cosmophonic....think twice before you take this venture.
