I guess the track pretty much flooded out during all the recent rains so they reworked the track and changed it all around to miss the big mud holes.

The track is awesome, the best it has ever been. By going around the mud holes they eliminated a lot of the B.S. turns and bump/jumps. Now it's all business. It has always been one of my favorite MX track in AZ, but now it stands alone on the top of the list. I like it because it is pretty long and super fast. Kinda like a desert track with big jumps in it. They utilized alot of natural terrain for the jumps and landings. It isn't setting on a flat field.

I highly recommend it for anybody who has never ridden there before or those who are looking for a new track to ride. It has been around a while, but it's so far away from the east valley not a lot of us ride there much.

Hey El Gato, thats good to hear that its even better now. I know that the tack had taken it hard since the rian but I didnt know that they rerouted it. Also next weekend they are haveing their big reopening with the 3 1/2 mile long enduro type track. I dont know if I was just repeating old info about the track because i dont come to this site much but I thought i'd just say what i know.

yes, they tore down the old quad track, and reworked into the enduro track, went around it once before getting told it wasn't ready, now they have a vets track, for quads, pretty cool track, two good jumps, quad freiendly, good berms around the corners. they're getting geard up for this track to get allot of use, the starting gates are up, allot of orange fence liner going up, I see allot of race quads on this track.

I am bummed to hear that the vets track is the new quad track. I was out there 2 weeks ago (for the Cannondale demo day), and I thought they had us on the vets track because the ATV track was flooded. I did not realize it was shut down. In my mind, the vets track is pretty boring. I greatly prefer the main MX track. I like it for all the same reasons El Gato does.

By the way, since I have the attention of you 2-wheeled folks. How do you guys feel about having quads on the track at the same time?

They don't like it, you'll get kicked off, only if Speed World gives special permision are quads aloud. I liked the old quad track, it still has some similarites, the enduro track will be more challanging than the vets track once it opens.

Usually they set a certain time towards the end of the practice when the quads are allowed to go out onto the main track. I know that the Speedworld staff will kick you off the main track before that time. I was just curious how some of the bike riders felt about the quads on the track...Do we take up too much room, are we too slow, does it annoy you that we can get out of a corner faster :) ????

The only thing I don't like about quads on the track at the same time as me is the roost and dust. Those big ole tires can really give you a helmet full. I have had quads ride very selfishly on a track and not let me go by, but that's fairly rare. I have had more bikers do that to me, but it's easier to sneak to the inside of a bike than a quad.

For the most part I don't mind quads on the track as the same time as me. It may be a little more dangerous because they don't do as many of the jumps as the bikes so there is always a posibility of landing on a quad if your really really stupid.

Slyder and I headed to Speedworld Sunday morning. The plan was to check out the new Desert/Grand Prix track. Having ridden the previous "quad track" I wasn't expecting to come away with a giant smile on my face. I was wrong. I love the new track! It has several big jumps- table tops mostly, a few fast but somewhat rough sections, a short sand wash, a mix of banked and flat turns and a cool little drop off jump. It's VERY quad friendly and great practice for us desert racing types. We rode it so much, we were only good for two laps on the National track when it opened to us. I like the new changes to the Nat track, especially the section that gives you a choice of two lines.
I'll definetly be heading back soon. Can't wait to ride the next GP race they have out there!
Thanks Speedworld!!!

I agree, I think they did a great job with the new Grand Prix course. You can tell they put more effort into shaping the berms and the faces of the jumps. I think I might have had a 3rd lap in me on the National track. [^]

Crazy Craven, Speed world is on the west side of town. it is out on Grand avenue, north of bell road. Type in www.mapquest.com to get the best route from where you are at. You don't have to belong, just pay to get in. I look forward to meeting you some time. You will have to go to Crown King some time. That is on the northwest side of town.

Do you guys know the quad requirements for these tracks...what do you need to be able to race?
Kill switch, nerf bars and all that kinda stuff and what about rider requirements.
I went to speedworlds web site but all I saw was the drag racing stuff.

Thanks Shane
