Anyone interested in riding from Table Mesa Rd to Crown King(rain or shine)?
The route is 40 miles one way. Food and gas are available in CK. I was looking at getting to the staging area by 8am and on the trail by 8:30.
Staging directions are: I-17 North to Table Mesa Rd exit. Make a right at the stop sign(heading west over I-17). Turn right on the frontage road. Just past the pavement is a staging area on the left.

Teri and I could be interested but it will depend on the weather as I am a big sissy when it comes to the cold. I have wanted to do that trail! Bunk

Gary,
Are you taking the same route we took 2 summers ago?
That sure seemed like it was longer than 40 miles. Maybe it was just that first portion that made it seem so long.
What the hell did that sign say at the gate to that guys property?
I can't remember...but I know it was funnier than $hit. Didn't someone take a picture of it?

Bunk,
Put on some layers, get some fleese gloves and lets hit the trail! It will probably be a little chilly first thing but it should warm up.
Redneck,
This is a different route that week took that time. We took that route that time because this route I am planning on Saturday was un-accessible because of water in the Agua Fria and an arm of Lake Pleasant.
This is the route post in the trail guide.

NWS says a high of 67 deg down here and 50 up in CK.....so far.
Come on Bunk, If I can do that ride after work in the morning, you can handle a little cold. Besides, there's a big ol' mug of "Hot Chocolate" up there with your name on it.[8D]

It should be a wet/muddy/snowy trip up the mountain.
I drove up to CK Saturday before last and some guy had wrecked his KDX 4 times on his way up. I ran into him at the general store and he could hardly put weight on his knee. I loaded his bike in the back of my truck and took him home. I gave him the R/A address and invited him to check it out. I'm rambling.
Anyway, he said it was very wet/muddy and icy in shady spots. I guess what I'm getting at is 4 wheels would be the better way to get up in those conditions.
Man, what the hell was that post all about anyway. I just started typing and next thing you know...blah blah blah...sorry.

The first time I ever rode to CK was in rain and snow. I have done it under those conditions twice since then.

AZScrambler,
My son, Joe, and I haven't ridden with RA for about a year, but this ride sounds like a great ride. If it is ok, we'll meet you at the staging area at 8. We sold the two wheelers and bought quads. We'll be riding a Kodiak and a Sportsman.

It was a great day for riding. Thanks to Grant, Cletus, Joe and Howard for joining me on this ride. It is a long and rough ride(in some spots). There are lots of snow up in CK to ride in(video being processed) and the food at The Mill was excellent as always.
BTW, Grant's new Yamaha Rhino and Cletus's Sportsman 400 are officially broken in. The Rhino is amazing on the trail!
Thanks guys.
