I think it would be awesome to see a forum dedicated to Dual Sport riding. I know someone has the power to make it happen... I am surprised that it hasn't already!!

Let's see... This site has a pretty wide range of topics, but no Dual Sport topic?? We have AZ Trail Talk, RAcers Edge, Sand Box, 4X4/RUV and Golf Cart Lot, Club House, Toy Hauler and RV Lot, Trail Guide, $5.95 Classified Ads, Maintenance/Technical/Product Reviews, RA - About Us and Site Sponsors, Off Topic and Test Forum... Did I miss anything? Oh yeah.... The Dual Sport topic!!! No one rides Arizona better than a person who rides Dual Sport. Nuff said![}:)]

Well, the person that has the power rides a quad.....LOL Nuff Said.
Start your own thread on what you want to talk about. There are a handful of these folks here on RA.
Oh yeah, welcome to RA

But the VP rides 2:D
This is on the review list. It will NOT happen before RA 2.0 happens. With the new site I plan to change a few things around. My question back to you Low Down is where are all the Dual Sport topics at today? I try not to create areas and hope people will come but rather I create areas to better manage the posts that are ALREADY filling up the site. For this suggestion to have any chance I need to see some action on the topic you suggest. You have six posts....you better get busy. ;)

At the same time? I knew the VP was talented.......
I personally wouldn't mind seeing this type of section. There are some guys/gals here and do this.
I thought about it myself with the gas prices.;)
I would like t see a few more topics on this. Just got my XR600R ready and plated for the street. Need to get it out soon.

Shannon-
When is this RA 2.0 getting launched? I appreciate the angle of your reply, but I believe it is the very reason there is no Dual Sport topic. The only place that looks like you could stuff anything Dual Sport related (without it being a ride announcement) is the General discussion topic. I took a peak at all the threads in there... I don't think DS is a good fit for it. I love that this site puts the focus on Arizona, but for now I have to go to other sites (like TT or ADVRider) where people are chiming in from all over the world, and can get more information about DS in Arizona than on 'RA'. That's the reason there are only a 'handful' of people that ride DS using this site... There's really no good area to post up (also why my post count is weak).
Now is the time to get on board with the Dual Sport topic. With the price of gas hitting record highs, more people are going to want to plate that bike/quad of theirs, and leave that Truck or SUV in the driveway instead of the staging area.
Perhaps it's just me, but it seems like there are a bazillion dual sport (DS) riders in Tucson alone, not to mention Phoenix and the rest of Arizona. I try to count the number of them each day, while performing my service routes.
Let's guesstimate that one out of every ten bikes seen on the road is a DS. Even if I'm off by a few, that's still A LOT OF BIKES and potential RA subscribers and contributors.
As a business owner and DS rider, I'll go way out on a limb and project that a DS forum, complete with the proper categories will be a big hit. As the dude said, "If you build it, they will come." Sponsors will, as well. :)
If the forum software is a pain in the azz to work with, perhaps swapping over to Simple Machines might be an option? Ok, I'll shut up now. :)
I hate to complain without offering a solution. If I can help in any way, drop me a line.
Dave

Thank you all for your suggestions. Keep them coming. I am finishing up RA 2.0 and am targeting the launch for the end of July. If I need to count on a few of you to Moderate a Dual Sport section, are you interested? ;)

I'm probably not moderator material, but I am a Dual Sport rider of a sort. I converted my 250X to street legal so I could ride it on the street when needed. I envy true dual sport bikes ability on pavement but would never want the penalty on the dirt. (mine is 95% dirt, 5% road.) There are DS forums on other boards. (even AZ boards) I haven't seen much action on them, but it is increasing as DS becomes more of an economical alternative.

Shannon:
I'm willing to help with moderation (it sucks being the "bad guy," though!). My motorcycle knowledge is very limited, which is why I'm here, but I can certainly assist with other operations.
Dumbass Dave, volunteering again. ;)

I can help with moderating if still needed ,Although I have never done it before I'm usually on this site almost everyday, all that Aside I would like to see a Dual sport section as well ,although I see why there is not a section due to the lack of MC'ers on this site as compared to TT, adv rider sites, I think that a dual sport section could also help a lot of people that may think that they can commute on a dirt bike on the street there are many different set ups, helpful hints and tools that can be of great help in regards to riding a dirt bike on the street I think that a DS section will a popular section for people trying to convert their Dirt bike into street commuters to save on gas
^^^^^Well said Joe^^^^^
I think it would be really helpful.
I have thought about getting a DS to save money and have a little fun at the same time.
