Heading out to Queen Valley on Saturday morning, March 6th. We will stage at the Texaco at the Florence Junction exit at about 9:00AM. Everybody is welcome as this is a fairly mild ride and will be whatever pace everybody is comfortable with. I have never been in the area so if somebody wants to lead the way be my guest. Hope to see you on the trail.
matt
This is the first ride I have posted so I hope I did correctly.

That Texaco at Florence Junction looks like it's closed. Guess you could still use it for a meeting spot though.
We might make it. Depends on how I feel Sat. morning after work!

Don't know for sure, but from pictures I have seen it looks like there might be one or two spots that would be tough in an SUV. Anybody else know for sure?
matt
polaris sportsman 700
polaris sportsman 500
If you have a choice, bring the Jeep. You would appreciate the smaller size and higher clearance. Although I have seen plenty of SUV's and Pick-ups up there.
There's a section after about the first 10 miles that is fairly steep, rutty and washed out.
The last section of the loop(choice of 2 trails)can get fairly narrow, steep and rocky but can be bypassed with a street legal vehicle.
The rest of the trail would be easy.

Looks like we're in. Jean loves that loop.
I'm thinking it might be easier to meet at the Queen Valley turnoff depending on the size of the group. Very easy to find, can't miss it. You have to "exit" US60 now to get to the Texaco.
I can lead if you like, gettin' to know that ride pretty well.

I've done the entire loop in my F-150, stock. It's pretty tame as far as a Jeep trail goes. There are a few spots where the brush will give you a few pin-stripes though.
Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day.
Teach a man to fish and he will sit in a boat all day, drinking.

Let's meet at the Queen Valley turnoff (Queen Valley Rd.)at 9:30am.
Queen Valley road is not more than a couple miles east of Florence Jct. You can't miss the big Queen Valley sign on the left. You'll see railroad tracks crossing US60 and the turnoff is just before the tracks. (LEFT TURN)
After you make the turn on QV Road, there is a large open area to pull off on the left. That's where we'll meet and continue to staging.
Any questions??

I was thinking about going, but I have no idea how much fuel my 416 is going to eat on that trip, that and I'm trying to minimize my ride time until I get my new frame. And also, with my fenders (Laker Custom) +3 a-arms and a +4 axle, i'll be thoroughly covered in mud, so I think I'll pass.

Hey Matt just so you know right as the road starts to go up the first climb look to the left and you will see a wash that leads around the climb and the back out on the road you were on and it is some of the best rock crawling we have ever found. It is only about 2 miles on the rocks so then you can catch back up when your done. You can break them Rawhides in right.

If things start getting late for me, I could just backtrack to the staging area or go ahead. If I remember this loop correctly, the last part is dirt road back to the staging area.
