F_G... This is a great thread!
I really want to make that ride coming up in October, but I'll be returning from Virginia 2 days before. My bride would most likely bury me if I tried scootin' to Payson... Maybe she won't miss me too much and I'll get a kitchen pass!!

Try and not miss any of them, we've put some great routes together and it should be a lot of fun. Heck, throw the buddy pegs on and bring her with you. And don't be afraid of the GPS only format on the DS this October, you can either pair up with someone who has a GPS, or we will be offering guided rides with people from our club who know the routes.
Everybody has a full year to plan for the National next October, this event should be epic.

No doubt it will be a great time... I'll see what I can do.
The Arizona Trail Riders will be holding a Dual Sport ride in Payson Arizona the weekend of October 25-26, 2008. The event is a little different than our past dual sport rides in that we will only be providing GPS tracklogs for navigation. No rollcharts or route sheets, just your trusty gps unit.
-The event headquarters and meeting location will be the the Main Street Grill in Payson. http://www.mainstreetgrillepayson.com/index.php
-There will be multiple routes available of varying lengths and difficulty which you can ride at your discretion. All rides start and end at Main Street Grill. We got something for everybody http://www.arizonatrailtalk.com/yfiles/Templates/Forum/default/smiley.gif
-Saturday night there will be a dinner/party at the Main Street Grill for all participants. We'll dream up some fun and games too http://www.arizonatrailtalk.com/yfiles/Templates/Forum/default/cheesy.gif
-On both Saturday and Sunday mornings a continental breakfast will be provided.
-Pre-Registration will be recommended, but not required. The GPS routes will be emailed to pre-registered riders before the event but will also be available the day of the event.
-Walkups welcomed but anyone needing the GPS files the day of the event must bring their own USB connector cable to download the tracklogs.
-Only Garmin compatible devices are supported as all tracks will be Garmin files.
-To accomodate those who wish to participate but have no GPS unit we will setup guided rides but availability will be limited.
-No official Sweep but we will hand out cell phone numbers so participants can contact us if need.
Pre Registration will open soon.
Mark you calendars now........
This should be alot of fun http://www.arizonatrailtalk.com/yfiles/Templates/Forum/default/cheesy.gif
Just a quick update on the event.
We have decided to put a little structure around the event and have designated route(s) for each day instead of having folks out riding different routes on either day. This will help us from a safety factor as we will know better where folks should be on a given day and help us staff to lead rides for those without a GPS.
Another benefit is this change let's us arrange a great BBQ lunch for everyone on Saturday http://www.arizonatrailtalk.com/yfiles/Templates/Forum/default/cheesy.gif Who loves ya baby http://www.arizonatrailtalk.com/yfiles/Templates/Forum/default/wink.gif
The event flyer is almost done and it will have all the details.
Online Pre-Registraion coming soon.

I'll bring my towstrap. How embarassing for KTM riders to be towed by a Honda.
Good on ATR for the DS rides! We need more! :)

Yeewww, good thing I ride a Suzuki.

So, does that mean a former FAST'R member and current President of OCMC will make an appearance?:giggle:

Dave... I wonder how many prints you made of that picture and hung in the garage, truck, various rooms throughout the house. I'm thinking 6!:giggle::rofl::grin:
No, not me! Hanging picts of dead KTMs would bring bad Karma!
I'll just continue tinkering with my old, used pigs, keeping my fingers and toes crossed that all goes well. :)
The DS events sound very cool, though.

Since he has gotten amazingly huge and the only thing that can pull his carcass around any more is an XR600, you might see him out there!
Fyi, I started a new topic for the Payson event.
