View Full Version : Payson DS Event - Oct 25-26
Ok folks, we are ready to rock.
The Event Flyer with all the information is available for your viewing pleasure, along with a link to the Online Registration, at www.arizonatrailriders.org and www.amraracing.com
Please note that due to last minute unfortunate, and unforeseen, circumstances the following changes have been made to the event.
The rally point, headquarters, and banquet for the event have been moved to the Mazatzal Hotel and Casino on Highway 87 just South of Payson. The move does not affect any of the great rides we have planned but for those making hotel plans, or who have already made hotel plans, you might want to consider the Mazatzal Hotel for convenience reasons. You can contact the Mazatzal Hotel at 1-800-777-PLAY (7529) or through their www.777play.com website. In some ways the move is a good thing as we will have alot more parking available for those transporting their bikes to Payson.
Also, because we must provide now a headcount for the Saturday night Banquet (included) you must Pre Register for the event. We will not be accepting walk-ups. Registration will be open through October 22nd, 2008
Also, for those who cannot ride on Saturday we have added a Sunday Only ride option for the event
Any questions? Just let me know.
Here's a little something to wet your whistle...

phxman... I was wondering if the casino is offering any deal on lodging for people participating in this event (regularly $132-152/night... Yikes!)? Whether or not they will offer a deal, how do the other hotel/motels in the area compare (ballpark figure of course)?
Low Down, the event flyer lists seven other hotels besides the casino along with their phone numbers. You should probably contact a couple or check their websites to find the best rate. In a simple random search I found that that the Holiday Inn is advertising a rate of $105, the Days Inn is at $88 and the Motel 6 is at $52 for the weekend of the event. However, each hotel also offers various discounts (AAA, AARP, online coupons, etc) so I'm sure you won't have a problem finding an acceptable rate. Good luck! :)

BigDog... sorry, wasn't trying to stir the pot. I maybe should have been more specific. If I am even able to participate (reason mentioned here: http://www.ridingarizona.com/forum/showthread.php?t=20774), any reservations made by me will be done less than two weeks from the event. I thought staying at the casino would be convenient like phxman mentioned, but not for what their advertised rate is! I appreciate the info on the other rates... I'll shut up now.
Low Down, not a problem. I was surprised at the rate you posted for the casino, too. Personally, I woudn't pay $150 to stay up in Payson but that's just me. I think the hotels Don listed cover a wide range of amenities and prices. Different people will want different things. Hopefully, you'll be able to find something even if it is at the last minute. :)
Stay tuned for more late breaking news.... ;)
Participants please note.........
The event Headquarters, Ride start/end point, and Saturday Banquet location has been changed to Tiny's Family Restaurant located at 600 East Highway 260. The change was made over the weekend after we were informed by the Mazatzal Hotel Casino that they screwed up and in fact did not have a room available for our banquet.
The good news.....a continental breakfast is once again included in your registration fee.
I do apologize for having to once again change our plans and any inconvenience it may cause.
GPS coordinates will be available in both Garmin and non-Garmin formats. :)
Just a reminder, you must pre-register for this event as we need an accurate headcount for the banquet on Saturday night. The routes are a blast and if you ride all the routes both days give you around 260 miles of beautiful scenery. And don't forget the entry fee includes lunch Saturday, dinner Saturday night and a continental breakfast Sunday morning. We also have some cool stuff to raffle and give away including a set of DirtBagz from Motosport Panniers.
See you in Payson!
