Mark your calendars. Arizona Trail Riders in conjunction with Arizona Bike Week will be hosting a Dualsport out of Cordes Junction on March 28th, 2009. Pre-rode some of the route this past weekend and it is awesome. Expect a route length of around 140 miles with some really cool "Hero" sections.

Sounds cool! Is there an "official web site," or anything like that for signing up, etc?

TIA

Depending if we can get the staging area in Spring Valley or not you have some from Jerome to Cottonwood, I think it is around 6 miles. Of course this depends upon whether you do the hero sections or not, but believe me my DRZ does not like asphalt so we (I) try and keep it to a minimum. Oh, and if we stage in Cordes it adds about another 6 miles, nothing on I-17 though.

We usually handle sign-ups through the Az Bike Week website and I'm guessing it will be around the end of February. And one other thing, this ride will feature GPS tracks and rollcharts, so if you're an adventurer like me, you can trust your nvigation to my directions.

Alrighty then..........here's the link to the Az Bike Week Dualsport event, registration should be up around the middle of February. Click on the link and then click on the "Sat. 3-28" tab. http://www.azbikeweek.com/2009gtr.htm (http://www.azbikeweek.com/2009gtr.htm)

This is the 3rd annual for this event and we have worked hard at getting recognition that it's not all about the Harley and leather crowd (although leather against bare skin:eek:........nevermind:blush:) so come on out for a terrific ride, a route that is an absolute blast and meet up with some other dualsport enthusiasts.

North Valley Honda & Kawasaki is the event sponsor for the second year in a row. Please be sure and visit their shop and thank them, they put up a nice chunk of change to make this event a reality.

Registration should be up very soon. The route is an absolute blast. Oh and the route starts in Mayer now, not Cordes Junction.

They are great guys over there, I bought my XR from them and my sons quads!:) Oh and some of those Honda generators!!
Does anyone have a map of the route they could post up? I'm thinking the DS route for me if I go, as I will have to ride to the stage area on my bike unless I could hook-up with someone.

Update: The bad news first, we lost North Valley Honda & Kawasaki as a sponsor, sign of the economic times I guess.

The good news, this ride is still happening, look for registration to be up next week. And we may have an even bigger, better and badder sponsor.

Check this out! Pre-Registered riders get a 10% discount on Parts and Bikes at GoAz. Just tell 'em you are preregistered for the ABW Dualsport.

More good news/bad news stuff. Actually, it all worked for the best. Originally we were holding lunch at the Jerome State Park, but due to state budget cuts the park closed last week, soooo.............we are having a full blown pulled pork BBQ at D & K Service in Cottonwood. Great people and they carry a large stock of parts and service for any "issues" along the way.

You don't want to miss this ride, the route and scenery are fantastic!!
