It is an older track that shut down a couple years ago then reopened this summer. I had heard the old track was really sandy and it got dusty fast and that is why I never rode there.
I've heard since it's reopening though that it is awesome, and it is a whole lot better than it was.
I would love to get out and reseach it sometime.

I rode it last week on Sun morning. It is a little short and kind of technical, but there was no big supercross doubles or triples. All the jumps are step-ups that are a blast for us altitude challenged riders. The dirt is clay and hooks up great after the water soaks in. They practice on Thurs nights-bikes only, and Sun morning they allow quads. Practices are split, and they have a neat little pee-wee track for the little ones. I really liked it.

I'm heading out there for the first time since they reopened this thursday night. I use to ride there religously every thursday back in the day and loved the track. Roger kept it very well watered, too watered at times. So I will see if it is improved or not this week, I will send out a report of my thoughts whether you care them or not [:p] If anyone would like to join me, they are more than welcome.

I was out there last thursday. It was not prep as well as it has been, but very fun! The track is in an old gravel pit, so the terrain is sandy. Almost every corner is rutted and tight. There is nothing there that is too challenging, good track to work on cornering.

I just caught wind that Roger is finally building another track in Florence....he has been talking about that for years and is finally able to act upon it I guess. That may be why he has been neglecting T-Land the last couple of weeks. I guess once he gets done with the track in Florence, he may add another practice night at T-Land, so it will be Tue. and Thurs. nights.

The company I work for here in the valley of the SCUM sold him a bunch of parts to put in a irrigation system to water the track. That is why it is all torn up. You might see a bunch of waterline and fittings laying around by the track here soon.

I talked to Roger while there last Thursday and the rumor is true. He is hoping to have it opened up end of summer. He is putting up the lights/fencing/watering system now and then the track which said will be the easy part....unlike Thrasherland, the ground is sandy and easy to work with.
They have split practices, 60's, BB Beginners, 80's, and BB Junior/Int/Pro. The price is still $15/bike and spectators free. Thrasherland was pretty good that night. However, the first hour or so of the night was kind of nasty...slimy/muddy and rutted. But by the end of the night, it was very nice. One of the few tracks that gets better as the night goes on [:p] He has put a bunch of sand in the corners, so those were pretty nice. Give it a few more months as he adds more sand and gets the ground worked in, then it should be a great track from the time you get there till you leave. It is a fun track, has some step-up/down jumps and a big up/down hill. This track showed me just how out of shape I am for riding mx tracks at speed...in order to last the whole session, I had to ride with the slower group so that I would not anger anyone going faster.[:I] I guess it would help if I got to ride more than 4-5 times a year, that might help arm pump issues. I was by the track 2 weeks ago and saw roger there working, I stopped and talked with him for a bit. He said that the sand drag strip should be going by late Feb or early Mar. The motocross is to open this summer. When I was there he was installing electrical for the tree on the drag strip. All the lighting and sprikler systems are done. he said theres not much left to do to finish the motocross track. He said that the strip will be open to everything from quads to full blown sand dragsters. He has alot of people chomping at the bit waitng for him to finish. Im out that way quite abit, Ill post more info.

Thanks for the info Sandzilla. Is the track on the north side or south side of Florence?

The track is on the North east side of florence, as you are coming into Florence from Florence junction way you make a left as soon as you cross the Rail Road tracks, Take that dirt road about 4 miles. You run right past the country thunder area. The last news I heard was in our local paper when Roger had a meeting with Planning and zoning. They ended up resceduling the meeting because Roger did not have very specific detials on the plans for the park. I havent heard any thing since that, gunna take a rife out there today and see if anything new is going on.
