I'm in town for a few days (weekdays) and am looking for someone to ride rolls with me. I've never been there so it would be nice to ride with someone familiar with that area.

Thanks,
Larry:grin:

rolls at 4 peaks? If yes, I ride there every weekend. Could play hooky from work one of those afternoons. Have a loop that takes about 1.5 hours. average speed. we normally do it twice.

Are you on a bike or ATV? You can down load a map at tonto verde rolls at 4 peaks.

the trails are marked. North South trails are sand washes east west are hard pack.

That's the one. I'm rolling into town the afternoon of the 6th and staying in Fountain Hills. I guess I should have specified, I have quads. I know how much of a pain in the a** it is for you 2 wheel guys to wait for a hung up quad but if you're willing...... I'll be on my KFX 700 unless I break it first and then I'll be on my Outlander 800. Where did you say that map was???

Thanks,
Larry:grin:

Trails are mixed... quad is good for this area. (unless you are a crawler...) I like the sand. NO hung up quads on these trails..

http://www.2az.us/ohv-rolls-pm.html

We park at bush hway. take 1804 to 1863 to 13. 13 is hard pack dips and turns. all the 18's with the exception of 1829 are sand washes running to lak. flat windy and fast. 1829 has two routes one is rocky on top of ridge. 1829 also has a sand run. to deep for the bike. good for quad.

return trip is 13 all the way back top of ridge little rocky.

FYI you can see the trail with google map - satalite view

That sounds like fun and I'm ready. I'm putting the skidplates and stock tires back on as we speak. The KFX sees nothing but dunes here. I'll just plan to respond to this thread when I get in town Monday night. I'll be here at home for another week but then I'll be camping in texas so I won't have internet or cell service. Hopefully you want to play hookie! But if not no biggie. I can always drag my cousin out to ride with me. I won't go out alone somewhere I'm not familiar with...

That might work for me also on Tuesday or Wednesday the 8th. I live in Fountain Hills and have ridden most of that area. I will watch my schedule as the dates approach, but I'm pretty sure that I can ride.

Ok you quad boys... did the rolls last weekend. Am ride was normal.. afternoon and Sunday were quad runs... 28 mile loop start at auz parking lot To lake and back. 75 % of the run is sand runs.. 25% hard pack woops between trails. takes about 1 hour 30 with break at lake... if you got the legs for it you can do it twice... after taking this run on a bike I am ready to pick up a quad...

I can make it either day. If others chime in we should make a decision today and figure out when and where to meet.

At work right now, heck I am eager to ride. Tuesday is the only day for me, so if anyone wants to chime in, I am good to go for an AM ride tuesday.

It sounds like they plan to meet at /behind the overflow parking area off Bush hiway near the Butcher Jones beach entrance. I could be wrong, If I did not have to take the kids to school at 0745 in the morning I would go as well.

Hey guy am not going to make it. boss not into hooky..

If all of you are on quads the best place to put in is butcher jones not the aux parking. ..
All the sand trials end at butcher jones. If you meet at the aux parking turn off before butcher jones turnoff you have to cross over small ridges to get to the sand. Hard pack lots of rocks.

Take the butcher jones turn off all the way to butcher jones beach. At the back of the parking lot is a large wash all sand for 10 miles. I would do that run and back. Then take the same run but vere to the right 1 mile prox. trial spits and gives you three options if you go up you take the ridge if you go left you have a 10 mile sand run amazing. if you go right.. i think that takes you to lake... do not know for sure. Down load you map from tonto national forest or hook up with GDT he knows the way. have fun. be safe

WaterWheelie
04/06/09, 9:15 PM
9:00 is fine with me but I'm staying close in Fountain Hills so I guess it's up to everyone else. I'll be there unless I get lost trying to find the parking lot.

So which is it ? The wash off butcher jones or behind the parking area? Since your not starting till 9 I may make this one if I know which area you will be at. I drive a maroon f250 crew cab and will have my sons red trx 400.

Since I'm not from here I'll let someone else call this one. I'm out loading up now so there is still some time. Hopefully we'll all find each other.....

Hopefully AZDave ,devious racing will check in before taking off. If they decide on the parking area, once you get onto Bush hiway just watch your left side and you will see the parking area. turn there and the pavement ends quickly,Just follow the dirt road and it will put you right behind the paved area into the staging area. For the wash just go a little futher and turn at Butcher Jones and follow it around and you will see a open gate(I assume it's open)that will lead into the wash. we usually just use the the parking area off Bush so I am not as familiar with the Butcher jones access.

Well I am getting ready to take the kids to school and will be heading out from there, I guess I will try behind the overflow lot first and if no shows up there by 5 to 9 will head over to the wash. My cell # is 480-600-4591 ,going through the canyon I get no reception but should in the parking area.

I had a good time as well riding with you guys and am planning to join the geo cache web site and do a little participating as I have time. Had a good visit and maybe I'll be in Phoenix again sometime soon. I like riding fast and jumping things but I REALLY like mud riding in the swamps of the dirty South. Here's a little youtube video of some of the guys I ride with down there.
