All, as everyone may have heard, there is a post policy change for ATV's. It's actually not a change but they are actually now planning to enforce it. The policy states that you can not operate your ATV in the post contonement area (Housing and Business areas) but can still ride in Garden Canyon, Huachuca Canyon and other range areas. You can ride on any road, paved or dirt trail. Should check with range control for ranges being used by units. Actually if you go to range control they will give you a range map if you ask for one. Also weekly in the Ft. Huachuca Scout they publish which ranges are scheduled and when. Lastly, go to the MP station and ask for a copy of the ATV policy memorandum. The MP's and range control are more than helpful. They make it clear that you can still ride in certain areas of base. Also, I ensured that Sierra Vista Cycles store is aware of post policy. Hopefully this will help those of you who enjoy Ft. Huachuca riding. Please if anyone has anymore input let us all know.

I rode in Garden Canyon up and over to Huachuca Canyon. It was getting late so we rode down through the post housing area and on out to GC. No one bothered us.

That's kinda dumb. Mine is street legal and they even issued me post stickers. So now I can't ride on post for what reason? I'm so glad I'm on my way out of the army.

is kind of stupid. on roads i think atv's are safer than motorcycles. i think the post should follow state policies for this type of stuff.

Is this for military only or can civilians ride as well? I used to ride over the top of the mountain from the Parker Canyon side, but when I tried it a couple of years back that gate was securely closed. I was bummed. That area has some nice trails back up in those mtns.
