I would like to know if anyone can help me make sure my quad will meet the minimum requirement. I want to make sure I have everything I am suppose to have. I would hate to drive the long distance to the race and to come to find out I cant ride because I am lacking something. I know if its anything like NHRA, its all the little stuff that kills you....

I do know I need nerf bars and kill switch (that is a given). I do not know all of what else I will be needing.... Any help or feedback on this will be greatly appreciated....

Go to the whiplash website, www.whiplashracing.com, there is a section that tells you what the requirements are.

Are you going to be racing MX too?

yes, i will be doing both mx and whiplash....

and i did see that list on whiplash.com, but being green/red colorblind, makes it hard for me to read. But I wanted to make sure there wasnt anything else otherthan what was listed on that list.... If it's anything like NHRA, they got a buttload of hidden rules you have to know that is not commonly listed...

Have you ridden the Z on the track yet? There was one in the am. class saturday at etmotopark seemed to be doing good while I was still near him.

Oh, as for anything else that you need for whiplash I havent raced in whiplash yet. If you find anything let me know.

You will race the "ATV9" class for your first race. That is the first time racer class. They make everyone start there with them, no matter if you have raced somewhere else or not and then put you in an appropriate class for your next race based on your finish.

I race a few races with them a year in the bike class, so far as tech stuff for quads I am not to sure of all requirments but I do know you need the following:

1. Number plates front and rear with black on white or white on black numbers PLUS I think ATV racers have to have their # on the back of their chest protector too!
2. Spark Arrestor (not sure about that in Mex.)
3. All of the proper gear +Camelback and tow strap.
4. The tech guys seem to get on people for proper fuel line fastening too.

They will assign you your number at sign up and will provide to you at Tech for a few bucks.

Like I say, I don't know the specifics as it to ATV stuff, but there a couple of Whiplash ATV racers on RA alot and I am sure they could help to guide you.

Good luck, and don't believe the down arrows.....there put there by an old guy in a jeep.

If your ATV still has the stock clips on the tank and carb connections you are fine. Safety wire is the acceptable replacement.

Zhvonte-
Nerf bars are NOT required to race Whiplash. I have no idea why that is listed. Most of the desert racers don't like them and don't run them. The teather kill switch is required as of the last Mexico race and they do check for it at tech. They also check for Spark Arrestors and some sort of clamp on your fuel line as stated. The stock wire style clamps are fine as is safety wire or hose clamps. You need a number on the front and rear of your quad. They don't like the number plate on the hood if it isn't very visible, for example, my 250R hood isn't very visible unless you're looking down at it. I mount a number plate on my handle bars instead. Numbers are to be atleast 6" and should be white on black or black on white..nothing else. You will also need a third number plate on the back of your chest protector/camelback. Just remember, the more visible you make your number, the more likely your chances are of being scored for each lap. Whiplash does make mistakes, but I won't go there. [:p]

Jeff, thanks for the heads up.... if I can do without nerfbars, I will... so all I really need is a teather kill switch, should be able to get that for like 30 bucks, give or take at a atv shop somewhere here in phoenix. My racing pipe already has spark arrestor and fuel lines are still stock as per manufacture.

I never looked into getting a racing number before, I am gonna have to call around and see how this is done.... should be easy mounting a number to the quad, but to a chest protector, i am gonna have to see somone chest protector and see how its mounted.......

You can buy a piece that fits on the back of your chest protector for numbers. I know fox makes one for the Airframe, and I got a flyer at et for a company that makes them for all tyes can't remamber the name right now I'll see if I can find it.
