First trip of the season???

I was wondering when most of you consider the start of the new season?Also, when you think you will be making your first trip and where? Will there be a RA affiliated group trip to kick off the season?

Our first trip will be at least by Halloween Weekend, if not Halloween Weekend itself. Basically it's when the temperature drops below 100 degrees.

Generally I think most of us consider Halloween weekend the start and Easter weekend the end. We will be out there for Halloween to start it off! The kids are already counting down! [:p]

I know we will go sooner if the temperature drops but history will prevent that from happening. It was still over 100 degrees the weekend before Halloween last year.

Being just a short drive from Glamis typically i start going in Sep for weekend trips. 12-4 pm is usally pretty warm but bearable. Lots of iced refreshments make it even better still.

ya ... im have withdraws too i was thinkin of a 4am blast to glamis ride for a bit intell i melt then go down to yuma and mess around in mexico then ride that night a little at buttercup .. then blast home .... i rode sand so much last year and this year i cant ride dirt anymore ..... O well...

well the season pass doesnt start till next month, but you can buy them here in Yuma at like 4 diff bike/Offroad shops, if you just want to pick one up on the way, they charge like 4 dollars extra but its a convience thing gettin the window hanger right there

I agree that halloween is the begging of the season.....it's to darn hot to out there. I'm definetly counting the days until I become one with the sand again. The Dunes are the best and very forgiving....and scandalous.

I plan on making a run to Ocotillo in late September. My dad got a new (to him) rail and we are going to tune it before the big October Glamis trip. It may be hot but we can always hope for cloud cover...:)

Wedge I am gonna kill you. :)nah really I am. Have fun I don't need pics of a dirt bike in the dunes. The video at Glamisdunes.com from St Anthony's allready has me depressed its so hot, but becoming primetime for teh annual nighttime rips down the washes at Rolls. I should be fine for abit.

OK then...sounds like everyone is all over the map about where they are going and when they will be going there. That said, here is what we have brewing:

When: October 22nd through the 24th

Where: Glamis (camping somewhere near Wash 9 through wash 13)

This ride is gaining some momentum, and is posted on several other sites as well. The area is ideal for accomodating many vehicles arriving at different times but still being fairly close. The area is also ideal to be in the middle of the deepest dunes Glamis has to offer in 15 minutes or less.

I will be firming up the details as the time draws nearer and will post accordingly. I hope many of you will consider making the trip. For those that tend to steer clear of Glamis for fear that it is NC-17 rated...that type of activity does exist, but is COMPLETELY avoidable!

There is nothing better than a massive group of friends in the dunes to kick off a new season...so come on out! [8D]

Sorry all, but i wasnt able to get any pics, parents ended having the Digi cam in there room when i left the house at 4:30 in the morn to head out.

But it was a good ride thou. My good friend ate some serious Sand when he laid his bike over coming down Test Hill. he goes down the hill 5th gear Pinned and he just lost it,
i found this REALLY nice jump thou, like 45' bowl- bowl jump, got bout 12 feet up, so it made my day:D

Jack, someday I am going to have to hook up with you guys. I ride in a very large group. I would imagine the first trip this season (Halloween weekend) will have at least 10 rigs with probably about 20 quads. I am not sure where we will go but probably off of Ogilby Road just north of the freeway. Anyway, I made 7 trips last year (hopefully more this season) and I am sure one of these days we will meet. :)

THInking about getting an extended swingarm made/fabricated for my cr500 and a good 10 paddle tire and see if i can't get anyone dumb enough to race me! jp...i'll get stomped by some of those guys. GIve me a mile and I'll get'm. ONly takes a lil more than a mile to hit 105. The last time i brought my dirtbike to the dunes I had a hard time keeping the front end down w/o a paddle...i went to el golfo so there wasn't many jumps up there...and that's what its all about...

Welp, maybe it's your first trip this season....maybe it's not. either way, there will be a big group headed out to Glamis this coming weekend. We intend to camp at/near Wash 13. Most will be arriving throughout the day on Friday (22nd) and departing throughout the day on Sunday (24th).

I will have my toy hauler marked by putting one of those white (lighted) spiral Christmas trees on top. That should be a pretty good beacon when it's dark out. There are severa lpeople coming from various AZ dirt riding sites....many of whom are first-timers as well as several of us who are true sand addicts! If you decide to make it out, look for the lit tree on my hauler and come say hello. My name is Shannon.
