Hey, Im 15 and I have a crf 230, I was wondering if there was some racing I could do? I Really dont want to get stuck racing people with bigger bikes. If anyones knows of any competition I could do please tell me. Thanks- Tim[}:)]
check out www.whiplashracing.com and just go from there... I am just getting into it myself, so I am unsure of the age restriction.
The first time racers class (900 numbers)in the Whiplash desert Series is awesome. They started that class for poeple exactly like you that don't have a clue where to start or what to expect. You just show up and go on a nice long trail ride where you don't have to stop and wait for your buddies. It lets you see how you fair in the desert WITHOUT pressure. After that first race you know what to expect when you start racing, and what class you would be best in.
I should be racing again soon, that is when Yamaha decides to get off their butts and deliver my bike. Make sure you find me at the races and I will help you out as much as possible. Of course the first time racers race at he same time as us, so I can't pit you or help DURING the race.

hey david, gotta question for you, what are the typical speed normally associated with whiplash in the different division??? I was wondering which set of sprocket to use for the race.... I can set my quad up for speed as low as 50 or as high as 75. Again, this feb race will require me to run the 900 class.
Arizona Trail Riders are promoting the 2003 Desert Mountain Enduro on March 16th out at milepost 11.5 on Carefree highway (just west of Lake Pleasant). This event will be an Enduro Qualifier format. Qualifiers are a great way to start because you don't have to worry about time-keeping like you would in a traditional enduro and you're not racing flat out during the entire race. There are sections where you go as fast as you can mixed in with transition sections where you can ride at a slower pace.
For more info, check the ATR web site (www.arizonatrailriders.org). There's also info about the event in another topic somewhere in this forum. Several RA members raced this event last year as their first desert race. If you have any questions, send a PM to PhxMan.
Good luck...Trish

Go do the Poker run on January-18/19. It is in the same location as the next Whiplash race (Heiroglyphic-100) and you will be able to dial your bike in perfectly while trail riding.
I gear my bike stock for this race, the poker run, and the Enduro which are all at the same basic location.
