I wrote this piece about a year ago. It's a story in the form of a poem about racing up Comp Hill against an unexpected competitor - a race where suddenly there's much more at stake than who's king of the hill. I patterned it after EA Poe's "The Raven". I first published "The Banshee" as a posting in the General Discussion section just before Halloween last year. So, I guess you could call it an RA original.
It quickly circulated out from here and around the internet. In one case I was even contacted and asked for permission to post it at another website with proper explanation and attribution (like my full name): http://homepage.mac.com/ojack/WhatBanshee.html . I must admit that I appreciated the interest and the courtesy.
Anyway, if you are planning to be at the dunes on Halloween, and you love to race your friends up comp hill, you might just get a kick out of this poem - maybe even a chill. Follow the link below to read the original posting. HAPPY HALLOWEEN!![}:)][8D]
