We are skipping the Pima motorpark race to save up for the rocky point race....who all is going?? also, never doing this race before...where are the start/finish points?? best places for mexican insurance?? is anyone else making it a vacation....i think we are going to try for 4 or 5 days down there. i am just looking for helpful info........and what do you need registration wise for the bikes over the border?? for example, my quad was originally purchased in south carolina, and there is no OHV registration...so i have none, only the title......will this be a problem? or should i go and pay the 20 bucks and register it in AZ to make life easy?
only a month away now!!

I will be there. The race starts and finishes at the Desert Oasis just north of town. We get our insurance in Ajo. I cost about 30 bucks for the weekend for both truck and bike. I will be going down on Friday, and coming home on Sunday, no vacation to burn. I have never had a problem with getting bikes across the border, all you need is you title, but they have never asked for it. I don't know if you have reservations yet but you might want to ASAP ! There is a big sail boat race down there that same weekend. We made ours three weeks ago and the camp grounds where filling up quickly. I don't know what your plans are for a place to stay but do it soon ! This race is fast (of course it is a Whiplash race)and has lots of whoops. The first time I raced there I never wanted to see sand whoops again, but stupid me I went back. It must be the party on Saturday night that brought me back. Thanks to Dbag I had a server hang over in December.

I was asked for proof of owner ship on my bike last time I crossed the boarder. I showed him my title, he gave me a hard time and wanted to see my registraition on the bike? I did not have it with me. I was able to cross, but I will bring it next time. Maybe he was having a bad day? As for insurance, The Flores Cheveron in Why is now sponsoring Whiplash, I'll be topping off on fuel & purchasing my Mex insurance there.

I live in Ajo and can tell anyone on the site that buying gas at Flores will cost you about $.20 more than buying it in Ajo (Circle K is cheepest). Why is only 10 miles closer to the border than Ajo if you are concerned about getting close before you top off with US gas. If you want to give Flores some business buy your beer and a couple burritos(I recomend the Roast beef and potato or chicken and veg) there. As far the registration thing is concerned...You must have some type of proof of ownership, title or registration, and it should be in your name. I have seen many a folk come 150 miles from Phoenix just to have their weekend ruined because they couldn't get the toys across.

I' am a tight wad, but I'd pay the extra few cents for fuel & support whose who support the Desert series. I'd only be taking 10 or so gallons anyway. I was thinking of trying out their homemade Mexican food! thx for the tip! :D Phil, Whiplash # 611 02 XR400R: FMF exhaust,XR'S only skidplate,IMS 4 gal., un-restricked air box w/uni-air, #170 main, bark-busters,739 A/T rear-756 front Dulap's 02 XR650 "un-corked", XR'S only exhaust & skidplate, Clarke 4.3, uni-air, 172 main/68 pilot, 739A/T & 756 Dulap's 2003 sponsers: ( Monkeybutt parts ent.)
