View Full Version : A new section for the haulers and RVers
So many of you have equipped yourselves with toy haulers and RVs that we thought it a good time to have a section of RA dedicated to this aspect of our sport. This section will help those of you with questions regarding haulers & RVs, what you can tow, hints, tips tricks and, yes, the dreaded have you ever seen this!
Thanks Shannon, Great idea I love getting and giving info about my 5th wheel toy box. Looking forward to what comes up. I have nothing but good to say about my toy box, but the tow vehicles is another story.

Ok. I gotcha now. I have to rejet my water heater.
Try again, Pal. :D;)
Are you sure you even have a pilot? Im not talkin about your son here, Most water heaters out now use a electronic igniter.
It's my guess your water heater is in need of a good cleaning and servicing. A professional "clean & service" includes verifying the LP delivery pressure to the water heater and checking the cleanliness and alignment of the orifices and the mixing tube. The adjustable screw you see is the pilot adjusting point. This simply adjusts the size of the pilot flame. The optimum position and size of the pilot flame is when the flame encompasses no more than 3/8" of the tip of the thermocouple. In this case, bigger is not always better. If the LP pressure is 11.0 inches of water column, (this mandates the use of an accurate manometer), and the main orifice, the pilot orifice and the curved mixing tube is clean, the last adjustment to check is the primary air intake. Open or close this sliding adjustment on the mixing tube so that the main burner is colored mostly blue and the roaring of the burner is only heard within five feet of the unit with the door closed. If the flame is too orange or if soot is visible emitting from the exhaust, or if the flame burns back into the mixing tube during a heating cycle, a more definitive adjustment will be necessary. Keep in mind all LP appliances need periodic cleaning and servicing; more so after periods of non-use when critters have had a chance to nest in or near the orifices and mixing tube. A regular annual checkup will keep your appliances humming along and eliminate unnecessary downtime during your travels.
I found this on the web hope it helps ,steveb

just a few weeks ago our pilot light would not stay lit....it was the thermal coupling that connects the copper wire to the thermostat that had actually comea little loose, causing any slight motion around the tank to make the pilot light go out. is there a copper wire that attaches to the thermostat? right at the top of the copper wire and the thermostat there is a screw/knob you can adjust that needs to be tight. hope that helps, hope you get it fixed. cold showers suck! especially on Christmas weekend. oh yeah.
Turned out to be low LP delivery pressure to the water heater as well as to all the other propane appliances. It was misadjusted out of the factory.

Glad to hear that's all it was Glen. Larry said that's what he thought it was when he suggested you replace the regulator.
