View Full Version : Toyhauler Recommendations
Well...we're FINALLY going to make the move and get a toyhauler. I just wanted to ask those that have FIFTH WHEELS (32+ feet) to share the good and bad of their specific brand based on personal experience. We're looking at all the usual suspects (Warrior, Sandpiper, Thor, etc., etc., etc.).

My friend has the 40ft. WW fifth wheel and the only problem that he has had was some of the receptacles not working because of a loose wire.
Check around for prices, I went to Las Vegas and picked up my 33 ft Thor Transport with a slide in the front bedroom. Saved $2000.00 by going to Johnny Walker's. Ask for Mac and tell him Shane Carlsen sent you. Great deals, my family has bought a total of 6 from him.

We are real happy with our recently aquired 36' Raptor made by Keystone(Thor) but I don't think the garage would work for you with 4 fullsize quads. This is our 1st Toyhauler and 2nd 5th wheel. No major issues with either of them. Need to get some minor adjustment made on the slide outs but not a major issue.
Most all of them will have issues from time to time. The key is finding a good dealer that will handle them.
I would recommend if you get one with slide outs that you get the slide topper awnings at the time of purchase.
Look at KZ Sportsman too. They get high praise on the RV boards for customer service and build quality.
If you're not in a real big hurry, the RV show should be here soon. You can get some smokin deals there.
RV show is going on right now at Peoria Sports Complex I believe.
I just ordered a WW Superlite from Giant in CA. Got about 20% off the list with no hassles/haggling. I did call Travelon (Weekend Warrior dealer on Main) in Mesa to see if they'd match the price, and they came within a few hundred dollars. I will try them first next time, to keep the $$$ local, but I already had the ball rolling with this other guy, so I went that route. Good luck, whatever you decide.

We have a 38' Sandpiper Sport 5th wheel and love it. We've had it a little over a year (had a 25' Wildwood before) and have not had any problems. It has a fairly large bathroom for an RV and is pretty tall. An average size person can stand up in the bedroom area. It has all the bells and whistles, on-board generator, microwave, suround sound, lots of storage space. It has 2 fold-down chairs on one side that the table fits in between and a long fold-down couch on the other side. this makes it easy to get to the back of the trailer when everything is folded down. My previous toy hauler had a long fold down couch on each side and you put the table in the middle of them. this pretty much blocked the path to the rear of the trailer so you were constantly removing and setting up the table.
The thing I like about it most is the large cargo area. With everything folded up you can put a lot of toys in it. Last spring break we fit 2 waverunners, 1 stand-up jet ski and 2 quads. Got to be able to take all the toys on vacation.
The only downsides I've found are there is no gas guage on the tank. It has one gas tank that runs the generator and you can fill the toys with. Also, you have to plug in the electrical cord to the generator and they placed the plugin at the back of the storage area for the cord. Just an inconvience you have the pull the cord completely out, plug it in then shove it all back in. Hopefully they have changed this with the newer models. I plan on moving the plug in and adding a gas guage.
Good luck with your search.

I too would recommend Giant RV. We just picked up a 28.5’ WW superlite fifth wheel and really couldn’t have been happier with the whole experience not to mention it only took 5 minutes to get the bottom line:D

Purchased an 05 Fleetwood Gear Box 29.5' 5th whl. Nicest Toy Hauler out there, I looked at'em all. Would have bought the bigger one but didn't have the space. Came with everything you can ask for, filling station with 2 seperate tanks, one the generator runs off, but you can pump out of it also, a seperate tank for high octane. Built in air compressor, high pressure hose and outside shower. Flood lights, outdoor speakers, dual batteries, dual propane tanks, Onan 5KW gold series generator, surround system, most inside storage available, almost a full size shower and seperate toilet. Good ground clearance, axles already flipped w/16" wheels. What ever you go with, spend the extra $$ and get everything you can on it. I bought mine through Earnhardt RV, it went pretty smooth, good experience, not great, but I have reccomended to other folks.

Hi
I just purchased my second 5th wheel toybox. I loved them both the first wass a 33 ft tahoe transport 2000, it was loaded with features, the second was a 33ft wander wagon both made by the same company- thor.
I would highly recomend it to you. I purchased both from a place in Ft mohave Az. called Cousin Terrys RV, a small family run company that has fantastic costumer relations, you will not be disappointed. I have had very little problems with my units but when I did they gave me one on one personal service. Give them a try. (928-763-9700)
