We have been to the Cinders a few times and it can be lots of fun when it is too hot to ride down in the valley. The worst thing is the thick dust, and yes, it can be tough on tires, but not too bad. I have always used my standard off-road tires. I haven't ever tried a paddle. I am sure it would work better but the regular tires worked OK. This is something you just have to try once to see if you like it. Good luck,

If you wanna attempt any of the hills paddles are a must, I would suggest a heavier paddle such as the gecho's. The cinders will tear up a new set of paddles over the weekend, but if all you want to do is trail ride then regular knobbies will work, and the cinders are sorta like peegravel, so there is a chance of getting chips in the paint.

Been to cinders. Paddles useful, but will tear up with high-performance engines. Dont use your dune ones if you dont have money for more soon. 4x4 quads work great. Traction is the big thing. dusty usually. Just imagine driving in loose 3/4'' gravel with sharp edges (small volcanic rock). Great place to camp in summer. not crowded.

We go to the Cinders about twice a year. Paddles are a must if you wanna shoot the hills. I've had the same paddles four seasons now, I use them for both the Cinders and the dunes.
I don't think it's that dusty.....not compared to the dunes or even a busy desert riding spot.

Been to the ciders a few times. The Cinders will tear up paddles, bring an old pair not your dunes pair, you can hear the rocks comming off the fromt tires and hitting the paint on the frame, you will get chips in the paint on the frame. It is dusty and the hills can be much steeper than the dunes. I Would recomend a trip to the Cinders if your willing to live in a dust devel and get a few dings in the paint. Make sure to see $50 hill and $100 hill.

The cinders are a blast! I get a couple seasons from a set of paddles at the cinders. As for chips in the paint...it happens, but WHO CARES!! The bike I ride isn't a trailer queen, and I'm not out to win any fashion shows.
