Who's in? Who is ready to party? I think I'm more excited about the aftermath then the race. Where is everyoone staying at? Campgrounds, or hotels? We are staying at the Playa de Oro, not to far from Manny's. OH YEAH!

David are you ready? We have to stop Kyle from getting a win. I hope I can keep my good luck together in Mexico for this one. I hope the XR 650 goes easy on me.

I'll be there for sure. I'm staying with Johnson at the Princess. I guess it's the new resort. I'm hoping some of his speed will rub off on me somehow through osmosis while we sleep. He is smoking fast down there in the big soft whoops. I had a HUGE lead (5 minutes) 80 miles into the race 2 years ago and he reeled me in and blew my doors off in the whoops, just amazing. Kyle's fast down there, and so is Eric Brown and Dayton Raper. It will be a tough race to say the least. I'm looking forward to the challenge. I haven't raced Rocky Point in quite a while, so I'm stoked to get down there and stretch out the old legs on the new 450.

I'll see you at Manny's saturday night.

Todd blew my doors off at the point to point race in December. I passed him after the first pit because he had a front flat, and when we got into the whoop road he went flying past, made me feel like I should be back in the 500 class. Dayton will not be there. Or at least that is what he told me Saturday at the track. He there is a slight chance he might show up with the 650.

I'm staying at the Oasis. Nice to finish the race & ride my bike right into my room to hit the shower. Pretty much have my XR650 dailed in. We did a daul sport ride out of Alto Pit last weekend & hit some fast jeep trails. Got pretty comfortable with the high speeds. I placed 2nd in the rock to rock last year, & I won the Point to Point in the 700 class, 3rd O/A in the 40+ class on my XR400. Hope to get the win & O/A in divison this time on my XR650. We still need to get in a last practice run this saturday. Any ideas? Maybe poker run, then head out to some open desert? If I do not see you guys this week, see you at the starting line, then JJ's afterwords for brew.

The rv park I think is about 5 minutes away from the Oasis, not bad. Yes it is a big party Saturday night, starting at JJ's around 7:00 pm. From there people part there ways but most go to Manny's. The Playa de ORO is walking distance from Manny's. Oh yes. Cell phones I think some will work down there not sure, I can't remember if mine worked down there last time.????

No, cell phones will not work down there. You can buy coverage in Mexico through most cell phone carriers for a certain amount of time. I don't know any details, but it wouldn't be all that hard to call your cell phone carrier and ask.

Party, what's that?;) I do believe spring break is over with. I was down there a couple weekends ago, and there wasn't a whole ton of people around. Of course these races bring out the masses.

The may race is the best for bringing out the party people, because they all think that cinco de mayo is celebrated in Mexico. Nope. But they head down to make things interesting during the dark hours.

I have heard that the course is primarily high speed and that in fact many folks increase 1-3 teeth on the front sprocket to increase top end. I will be riding a Raptor in the 300 Class, any suggestions.

Thanks

Yep, gear for speed. I beleive last year Pro avrage speed was about 58 MPH, top end well over 100+...should be fun [:p]

I saw a map last week while I was visiting with Sabrina, and the course is running backwards this year. We'll go down the rail road tracks first to the La Pinta Beach pit stop then on into the 11 mile whoop-de-doo road. We'll then head back around Uncle bucks and into Well Road for the second pit and back on down into town. I have a map at home. I'll try to scan it in and post it this week. All the nasty soft whoops first, this should be interesting.

Don't waste the time David, the map will be posted on the web page shortly. Well at least the butt kickin will get over early. I was not looking forward to the whoop road, and then the last twenty five miles of hell before they changed the direction.

The race will stil start at the Oasis as usual. After you cross the highway and go down about a mile you will hang a right instead of a left.

I just heard that Beashaw cut the tip of his middle finger off. He is going to race, but I'm sure he will not be feeling real well. At least you can roost him & he wont be able to flip you off[}:)]. No sorry Kyle, hope your doing OK. Kinda a bummer leading the points:(

Yeah sorry to hear that, real bummer. wink wink, snicker snicker.

Just kiddin, I hope Kyle the best even if he is the enemy (on the race course that is). He'd represent our state proudly if he ever gets called up to the big leagues.

Here's Kyle putting a spanking on Eric Brown, and our current Az state champ Todd J. soon after the starting line in the 2001 Point to Point.

NO your not seeing things, that is my old beater 98 YZ400 out pulling the XR650 next to me, and the CR500 behind me. That bike was silly fast with the high compression LA Sleeve 420 big bore kit.

I remember those rocks well[:0] I started next to Lonnie D. on his KTM520. I was on my XR400. I had to take a beating from those baseball size rocks for the first 3 or 4 miles.[B)] I was finaily able to get past him in the tight stuff, omly to get cought behind the expert qauds. Then had to take a beating from 2 tires throwing rocks at me. I hope the 600 class starts in front of the qauds this time:)
