Anyone have some suggestions on places to ride around Pinetop / Show Low?
Spend summers in Pinetop with a pair of Yam. Raptors, so far I have been riding at the dry lake a few miles from Lone Pine dump area, need some new dirt. Thanks, John

There's a nice trail in Eagar, rode it last summer after the wildfires. It's about 26 mi and only for motorized bikes and ATVs 50" wide or less. The ranger station in Eagar can help. A friend of mine also found a place that borders the reservation near Sunrise, but I've never been there. If I can get more details, I'll post them.

Go check out Saffel Canyon. Directions: Take Arizona 87 north from Phoenix to Payson, then Arizona 260 east to the Eagar/Springerville intersection. From the Eagar/Springerville traffic light, travel south on Main Street into Eagar. Turn west (right) on School Bus Road. Turn south (left) on Water Canyon Road (Forest Road 285). Stay on Water Canyon Road for about 12 miles (go past Forest Road 74 DO NOT TURN ON FR74) until you reach Pat Knoll sign (Forest Road 60) and turn left. You will cross the OHV trail system twice before you reach an open meadow that is conducive to RV's etc in terms of room and space. Pick a spot. Camp and ride!

Try Porter Mountain in Pinetop. Lots of forrest roads to explore, and close to town.

I have rode Porter mountain and it is pretty good, a little on the dusty side, after a mild rain would be good. If it rains good it gets really muddy. Another ride area is the blue hills. It is north east of St. Johns. If you go straight through St. Johns (east) the road turns into 191 north. About 3 to 5 miles and you will be able to see the ride area on your left(west of hwy 191)There is a gate you need to open it has a sign that says to "pick up your trash". If you have any question email me. I know of places in Joe City, Snowflake and Showlow.[8D]
