Thought I'd chime in on Cherry Creek. Got to the site late as usual. The sign up people had no clue how to number(letter) my bike. Three people down the line they finally figured it out. By that time it was to late to run the bomb. Just my luck, it was the first National this year without a bomb practice. The weather at this time was pretty nice with threatening clouds in the distance. Little did I know how miserable they would make me. The Utah National two weeks ago was crazy dusty and I failed to bring tear-offs for this one. Big Ooops! I got a good start and was third to the bomb. I passed for second pretty quick and waited for a mistake for first. It happened and there I was leading the Ammie line. It felt incredible. Nothing but clear course and experts in front of me. I started running into experts pretty quick and was being real polite when another Ammie blew by me while I patiently waited in line:(. He taught me a lesson with that move and I quickly changed my riding style. It was the last time I was passed. Luckily I chased him down and never saw him again[}:)]. It then began to rain, sleet, hail, and snow hard(the ground at one point was completely white). It was so muddy I rode the last 10 miles of the first loop and the last 20 miles of the second loop without goggles. Stupid? Yes, but I could not see at all. I'll be ready next time. It's a scary feeling staring down the rear tire of a 525 while climbing a rocky hill[:0]. To be honest I just backed off during those situations. I ended up overalling the Ammie line. What a great feeling:D. One I never thought I would have. Special thanks to my pit crew/girlfriend Dawn and my sponsors. Without them I honestly couldn't have done it. And she drove straight through to home while I took chunks of mud out of my eye[B)]. What a girl.

Congrats to Destry. He finally beat Russ but let another Pearson in front of him. At least he got some points on Russ. I believe it went Pearson, Destry, Pearson, Brown and Zimmerman. I think. Should be an awesome ending to the season if he can win the last two in Nevada. I've said it before but I think it bears repeating. If you guys and gals aren't entering these events you really are missing great races. Do yourself a favor and check the AMA's website and see if you can make the last two in September and October. You won't be disappointed.

Awesome!!! Amateur, HHUUUMM;) The last race I did that nasty was Cinders in 97, rain, sleet, and lightening the whole race. I'm glad someone is making a stand for Az racers out there other than Destry. We have got a bad rep for years, but we'll break out of it. I wanted to do this race so bad, but there has been some crazy things going on with the family. Fist even volunteered a bed in his rig and help getting up there. Maybe next one.

Congrats to Destry. He is an awesome racer, and person. Keep up the good work.

It's a points thing again. I started the series in the Ammie class(Vet B). If I move up now I lose the championship. Besides I've never overalled one before. Maybe one of the last two in Nevada I can get on the first line with Destry and the boys[:0].

Good Luck! I was fealing pretty good in the WORCS race last year. I was on the line of the 4-stroke expert class looking up and down the line and I knew most of the riders and I was pretty confident I could do good until Russ Pearson pulled into the gate next to me. Talk about a buzz killer. He was on a YZF250. I asked him how he liked the bike and he said he didn't know because he had never ridden it before. The gate dropped and he was just a memory. I DNF'd with a crash and a flat. I went home with my tail between my legs, licking my wounds. Those guys are intimidating to say the least.

I think I know what you mean. Ty Davis lapped me and everybody else at this years WORCS race in Phoenix. It was awesome just being out there though. Same is true when Destry shows up at our races. Besides when do motocrossers get to line up with Ricky and those guys? Never. We are so lucky to be able to get roosted by them. Right?

Armpump,

Cherry Creek was about 80 miles long. I would say 75 miles were run on tight , tight singletrack through tight, tight cedar trees. The uphills and downhills were all snotty, rocky singletrack. After both Utah rounds of the Nationals I firmly believe singletrack is all they have up there. Thousands of miles of the stuff. It really is incredible riding. I love it and I can't wait till next year!
