is there anybody out there that has put an aftermarket exhaust system on their crf450r that would sell the stock headpipe reasonably? i have a crf450x that i'm trying to coax some extra ponies out of and i'm wanting to try the 450r exhaust and cam. i already have the muffler

I also have that CRF450X and I noticed that it doesnt seem to have as much power as the R. Is it just me? I rode the 450R and loved it ran out and bought the 450X and I gotta say it just doesnt mount up. What do you think? Do I need to get the 450R exhaust and cam like you are doing? let me know how it turns out.
Better change your Bio dirtbike girl:D

she has been drug back to the four-stoke side by the torque factor:)
i put a "r" muffler on and jetted up and it seemed to help a little but according to the "wrench" which is a honda publication you need the "R" cam and headpipe not the muffler. you are just supposed to uncork the stock one and do the pink wire mod along with cutting your airbox which they give you specific instructions on where to cut and of course jet up. your dealear should have a copy if not i could fax a copy of mine to you. from what i've heard when the mods are done they run right with the "R" models
Can't be that, if it were the torque she would stick with the open two stroke. With the four-stroke she can crack the throttle and have time to do her nails before the power comes on.

thats a bunch of bull rja1235 the 450x rips just as hard as the r but in her own way. to get more power and rideability in the bottom 1/4 throttle you must uncork both ends. cut the airbox(mine has a 5"x5" hole in the top)remove the backfire screen from the air filter holder, pull the baffel out of the exhaust, 168-170 main jet, stock jet needel 4th clip position, 48 pilot jet, fuel screw 1 1/4 turns out. 75 degres f at 1000'and then call it a girl bike. but im shure your 86 yz will still smoke it.
