Is there anyone who knows if you can ride to Child's Power Plant? I was there about 5 years ago but I was in a work truck and it wasn't a fun trip. I think it would be a great trip if you had chase vehicles to meet up with everyone in Strawberry. Or just spend the night in Strawberry, gas up and head back to Camp Verde. Let me know if anyone is interested. I wouldn't mind going on this ride. I'll look into mileage for those of us who have smaller tanks.

I made that ride a few times last month. I posted some pics titled Fossil Creek. It sounds like the forest roads are closed going down from Strawberry so we'll have to wait for some rains. Here's the linkhttp://ridingarizona.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=5788
It's pretty dry in that part of the woods. Alot of trees are coming down in Strawberry.. Real pity.....

Thanks for the input. When I went I was hauling a 15,000 pound forklift with 8,000 pounds of steel plates on a two axle truck. Needless to say I was white knuckling it all the way down into the power plant on the switchbacks. If some people are interested we could do a day ride down to the river then back up to 260. A little warm out now but might be fun. Eventually I'd like to ride all the way from 260 into Strawberry. I'll get started on my rain dance.
