View Full Version : Cool Dune Vids
In case you haven't already seen them, check out these video clips from WyoDuner's excellent site - dunereview. They're mostly from Little Sahara, Utah and St. Anthony Dunes, Idaho. Although I haven't been there I get the impression that there are areas in these dunes that are bigger and badder than anything Glamis has to offer. The clip at the bottom is an Oddissey end over end crash. Any of you done that before on bike or quad?? I hate to admit that I have. ;)

LMFAO! That was the greatest crash ever! I knew right when he got to the face of that jump it was all she wrote. I love how he wrecks it, then fires it right back up and keeps riding! :D
That was cool! I like how he ended up on all 4 wheels again.:D

I have watched most of those videos and I have not had the pleasure yet of flipping like that on my quad.

Sort of like the case that when you have a hammer, everything looks like a nail. There are those dune days, when everything looks like a jump ;).

I respect that, and continuing in the spirit of self-disclosure I offer the following:
This old man, still plays nine;
Still rides crazy most the time.
With a knick knack, paddy, don't break another bone;
This old man goes flying home. [:p][:o)]:D

Works for me. :D
Nudge says he hasn't been to Little Sahara in Utah. I went up there this past April. Really great place to ride. Not nearly as big as Glamis. I still prefer Glamis, BC it has more variety and space. But Little Sahara does have one monster hill with a bunch of different runs. Much steeper and way longer, a lot longer. Not even close to the bowls offered at Glamis, but still plenty of fun. It was a blast. I'll go back for sure.

I know Sand Mountain is a lot longer or a taller hill than those at Glamis, but its steeper too, huh? Those quads from the vids seem to be able to make it up there OK, although they're struggling to keep the front ends down near the top :D. Gotta make it up there sometime and ride with some of my Cannondale Brothers and Sisters [8D].
I did St Anthony couple years ago, and made Choke Cherry 2nd try! It was soooo steeep when I crested the top my chin was the first thing over the hill, a local DS I raced up the hill said that was the first Raptor he'd seen make it up the hill. Devils dune was so massive it took about 3-4 minutes in 5th gear pinned to make it around the top of the bowl!!!!!
I need to get back up there.

The big hill at LS isn't that steep. It is really long though. The whole time you're thinking, "I hope I'm running the right main-jet". The side of it is steep.
Everything at SA is big-big-big. It's kind of a surreal place.
